(Fairfax, VA) – Both the Kansas State Senate and House of Representatives voted to override Governor Sebelius’ veto of the National Rifle Association (NRA)-backed Right-to-Carry legislation, Senate Bill 418, “The Personal and Family Protection Act.”
“After 12 years, it took a collective, bi-partisan effort to win this fight. Kansas now joins 46 other states who enjoy some form of Right-to-Carry,” NRA Chief Lobbyist Chris W. Cox declared.
The Kansas State Senate voted 30 to 10 to override Governor Sebelius’ veto of the Right-to-Carry legislation. Less than a day later, the Kansas House of Representative voted 91-33 to sustain the override.
Cox continued, “We want to recognize the steadfast support of several state leaders. Without their hard work, Kansans would still be deprived of this valuable law. Senator Phil Journey, Representative Candy Ruff, and Representative Gary Hayzlett worked tirelessly on this measure and we thank them.”
Kansas becomes the 47th state with some form of Right-to-Carry. There are now three states that do not allow any form of Right-to-Carry; Nebraska, Illinois and Wisconsin have yet to pass such self-defense legislation.
“As always, we appreciate the commitment and participation of our members in Kansas for helping pass this legislation and helping override the Governor’s veto of this self-defense law,” concluded Cox.
California and New York are listed as Right-To-Carry, but aren't really - you pretty much can't get a permit there unless you're rich, famous, well connected, or a politician.

Unfortunately, my KS House and Senate Representatives believed that I was not capable of protecting myself, or failing that, that I am a potential criminal, all I need is a "legal" weapon. RINO's both, of course I am surrounded by RINO's and RATs.

That "47" number is deceptive, all right. They should be talking about "Shall Issue" states. I guess the NRA is trying to show how out of the mainstream the remaining 3 are, but the "Shall Issue" number is in the high 30's anyway, I think. One step at a time, I guess. Incrementalism worked for the commies for decades, it can work for us.

I can't speak for NY but I was humbly corrected on FR by a citizen of N. California when I stated something similiar here. I was a 3 year resident in the San Fran Bay area of California. A permit was nearly impossible to get in the San Fran part. The fellow Freeper aggressively called me out as being wrong and noted that the issue is regional in California.
Where's my gun? Finally, I get to use my gun. The wicked witch has been defeated. Kansas is free.
Now all we need is a new governor.
I'm aware of that - my question is "why is the issue regional at all?"
There should be a state Shall-Issue system with state sovereignty - no little podunk townships (or liberal nests) defying the will of the people and denying them their rights.

New York is a "May Issue" state.
