Viroqua, WI - Viroqua High School officials chose to cancel tomorrow's Diversity Day activities after Liberty Counsel presented legal precedent requiring inclusion of the viewpoints of Christians and former homosexuals.
The school scheduled sessions for the students that presented the viewpoints of Hmong, Jews, Muslims, Native Americans, African-Americans, homosexuals, Latinos, Buddhists, the physically disadvantaged, and the economically disadvantaged, but not Christians or former homosexuals. Diversity Day would have been held tomorrow, March 23, 2006.
After a school official stated that the viewpoints of Christians and former homosexuals would be excluded, a resident contacted Liberty Counsel on behalf of many other concerned Viroqua residents.
On March 9, Liberty Counsel sent a letter to the District Administrator, explaining that the censorship of the viewpoints of Christians and former homosexuals violated the Establishment Clause and the Fourteenth Amendment equal protection guarantee. Liberty Counsel sent another letter on March 14 to the District Administrator and Board of Education. Two days later, the District Administrator confirmed in a telephone call that Diversity Day had been cancelled.
In 2004, the Board also cancelled Diversity Day in response to a citizen petition, but then reinstated it after spring elections changed the members on the Board. Unlike 2004, however, this time school officials were confronted with precedent from a federal district court in Michigan that ruled unconstitutional a similar exclusion from a Diversity Day panel.
Mathew D. Staver, president and general counsel of Liberty Counsel, stated: "We are pleased that the District cancelled Diversity Day instead of censoring the viewpoints of Christians and former homosexuals. One of the Diversity Day organizers labeled the former homosexual's viewpoint as 'non-positive.' This is yet another attempt to indoctrinate our youth with the harmful message that homosexuals cannot change. While touting the message of tolerance, homosexual activists refuse to be tolerant of opposing viewpoints. Our youth deserve to know the truth about homosexuality - that people can choose to overcome same-sex attractions and that acting on those attractions results in devastating physical, mental, and spiritual consequences."
Diversity - A concept celebrating the idea of a world without heterosexual Christian white males. Example: "We are especially looking for people of diversity to apply to this job opening."
Open-Minded - A term describing an unthinking adherence to leftist principles. Example: "You're not bisexual? That surprises me----you seemed so open-minded."
Progressive - Any policy or circumstance which edges the world closer to a leftist Utopian ideal that has never existed and which will never exist. Example: "My university is so progressive that they are making all bathrooms gender-neutral, just like on Ally McBeal!!!"
Tolerant - Demonstrating a particular affinity for the depraved, debaucherous, perverted, cruel, and evil. Example: "Christians are easily the least tolerant people in the world. A more progressive society would round up and execute every last one of them."

School Cancels Diversity Day Over 'Ex-Gay' Demands
(Viroqua, Wisconsin) For the second time Viroqua High School has cancelled Diversity Day after conservative Christians balked at the inclusion of gay speakers.
The day, held every two years for juniors and seniors, was to have been held on Thursday as a opportunity to promote diversity in the community.
Speakers were to have included representatives of the African American, Latino, Jewish, Muslim, native American and gay communities.
But, Liberty Counsel, a Florida-based public interest law firm that regularly fights LGBT civil rights issues notified the school that it represented Pastor Don Greven of Bad Axe Lutheran Church and Charles Lind, grandfather of a Viroqua High senior who were concerned that representatives of the so-called ex-gay movement or other Christians opposed to homosexuality were not invited to speak.
Liberty Counsel, in a fax to the school, obtained by the La Crosse Tribune, warned that if Diversity Day went on the school could face legal action.

6. For the umpteenth time...
THESE ARE NOT CHRISTIANS!!! These are maniacs that cloak bigotry, hatred and evil in a cloak of twisted permutations of what Christianity is SUPPOSED to be.

2. Foaming-at-the-mouth lunatics must be represented, too! After all, you don't know how many high school graduates want to be come drooling, pants-s****ing idiots, and if you don't offer their point of view on Diversity Day, you're doing a disservice to all the students.
If it weren't for the money it would cost the school district, I'd dare these craven little worms to sue.

4. So, let me get this straight (no pun intended)
You can't have gay speakers who would advocate "tolerance" (I hate that word) for gays, unless you have "ex-gay" speakers who would advocate . . . that it's ok to be intolerant of gays because they don't have to be gay?
I don't get it.
------------------------
Ahhh! Can't you just feel the love and tolerance?
That is their goal isn't it? At least, that's what they've been bloviating about all along.
So much for "diversity" . . .
Diversity includes all points of view but not the ones we don't lkike.
All animals are equal but some animals are more equal than others.
>>
. . . but this is just a good example of the state of "education" in this country.
<<
But, if they only had more money, I'm sure the educational system would be better.
( hahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha )
Quote from a particularly shrill and racist black alderwoman here in St. Louis: "Diversity doesn't mean I have to listen to you. It means you have to listen to me." This could be a dandy slogan for Diversity Day in Wisconsin.
The ex-homosexuals would make it all too clear that sexual deviancy is not irreversible. The implications of this are frightening and lead in many cases to self-condemnation. How hateful.
Yeah. It's like on TV news, diversity means people of both genders and all colors reading the news, as long as they are liberals. That's diversity all right.
Who needs reading, 'riting, and 'rithmetic?
Diversity is so important.
I know you are probably joking, but the truth is there was not enough diversity. Claiming you are fair and unbiased and then excluding religions and beliefs you don't want is not very diverse in my book, but hypocritical in the extreme!
Unfortunately, this will not change the presentation of the one-sided views of the liberal teachers each day in the classrooms.
I gotta hand it to you, you've got more of a stomach than I. I'm afraid after just a few minutes over there I'd overheat.
Ha! I view lurking over on DU like having a peephole into an insane asylum. You never know what they'll say next and just when you think they've reached the limit of liberal silliness, they push the line even further. The place is a laugh riot!

Honestly, it likely preps the little monsters for work in the corporate world. Makes it easier for them to spot BS when they see it. :-)
Liberals do not actually believe in true "freedom of speech". To them "freedom of speech" means freedom for a liberal view to not be criticized or questioned.
Well that is one way to cancel Lockstep Leftist Day.
Translated for those not conversant in PC speak: Hmong, Jews, Muslims, Indians, blacks, gays, Latinos, Buddhists, handicapped and the poor. Christians and former gays translates to PC as intolerant hate mongers and traitors to the cause, respectively.
"Diversity is perversity." M. Savage
I think that about sums it up. The article proves the statement to be true.
Kinda of cancels out the WORD diversity doesn't it!
Toleration and diversity is only bestowed upon those who espouse attitudes of intoleration and disrespect of anything Christian and/or anti/former-homosexual.
