Most of the anti-war marches and rallies over the weekend were very poorly attended.

This is the same group that posted that they would "Storm the White House!", first on March 15 and postponed until...today! I'll be looking at FR very closely today to see if they are getting hauled away in irons at some point.

Above all, they [well-meaning citizens worried about the course of the WoT] should not fall for ploys of domestic radicals

This is the big question, IMHO. We know why the radicals cynically and hypocritically use the "peace" movement to further their destructive aims; but why in the world do so many ordinary, apparently non-radical, "liberals" credit and even support the hard-left in these matters?

Here's one thought on the matter extracted from a longer message I posted here:

The preceding explains the hard-left: an unappeasable minority probably in the single digits in America, and not much more even in Europe. However the untoward degree of support hard-left projects often receive from those who would be, by default, center-left "liberals" is more mysterious (and more frightening, and more dangerous).

That, like you, I can't explain. Not completely or to my own satisfaction. Although I think part of it [...] goes to the aftermath of "McCarthyism".

One result of the reaction to McCarthyism (designedly so on the part of the hard-left) was the erection of a broad social taboo against "Red Baiting". That is it became unseemly and illegitimate to simply identify communists, and by extension other leftist-extremists, as such, even if you didn't take or advocate any hostile or oppressive actions against them. Of course there was no corresponding taboo against identifying and marginalizing right-extremists. In fact quite the opposite. [...]

[T]he result of the "red baiting" taboo is that leftists are protected against exposure of their true radicalism, and that we all are expected to pretend that their (usually deeply cynical and disingenuous) ideals and good intentions are genuine.

Since "liberals" (as opposed to hard-leftist) are the most intensely horrified and intimidated by the prospect of committing the sins of "McCarthyism," they are also the most fastidious in maintaining this pretense. So fastidious, in fact, that they are apt to ignore and forget the hard-left's real agenda and genuinely believe their moral posturing and Machiavellian lies.

"But, but, you're trying to say that it is un patriotic to dissent! Your trying to silence opposition to this illegal immoral war!"

Standard Anti-war leftist boilerplate.

What I and anyone that exercises their constitutional right to free speech and press in criticizing the stupidity of what the Anti-war left is trying to do is wake up the dulled and hypnotized drones that mouth these kinds of inanities. Face reality and grow up, or take your place with the traitors, and side with the murdering nihilistic terrorists that share your sentiments. To hide behind the Constitution IN ORDER to bring it down and thereby deny us our constitutional rights is what you are doing, whether you realize it, recognize it, or not.

The left, here and abroad, needs to see the US weakened on the world stage, so that this country can be forced into the utopian global marxist paradise they envision.

As long as America remains strong, their dream will never be realized.

Leftists haven't supported a US military action since 1945, and many weren't even on board back then.

There are people in this country who hate our economic system, freedom and are unhappy with our form of government. Its ironic the greatest and the freest society on earth could breed malcontents but it has. No matter how many injustices this country addresses and no matter how much good it does, some people will still hate it. Now you know the peace movement is neither patriotic nor for peace.
