No he has this one look he uses in interviews. It is just a brief upturn of the corners of his mouth. You got to watch for it but it really looks like he is trying to contain himself from laughing in the interviewers face. I love that grin. Amazing how everyone in the Bush Admin has such marvelous smiles.

I didn't hear the impeachment word, but Bob Schieffer did ask Cheney if he should resign! Can you believe that?

It would have been funnier, if Cheney enquired about Schieffer's brother to whom President gave an ambassador job.

The VP didn't sugarcoat it when Ted Kennedy's name came up. He said the Kennedy would be the last person he would take advice from on National security. LOL

Hard to say, but Bob was pushing for a shakeup in the White House, from VEEP resignation to removing Chief of Staff and others. It would have been fun if Cheney had asked Bob in return -- rumors are that you are burnt out and are talking about retiring or resigning, is that true? Never-the-less, I never watch FTN, but made an exception today because Cheney was on, and it was certainly worth while.

The Vice President is a master at this. There are more then a few Republicans who should be watching and learning how he handles himself. I will miss him when he retires.

IMHO the two best guys to handle this pack of jackals are Cheney and Rumsfeld. I love to watch any presser when they are being "asked questions" - it is just delicious when they smack the MSM upside the head. Of course the dumba$$ MSM don't even realize they have been handed their head!! Which makes it all the better.

Snugs, Spring Break is when colleges take a one-week 'break' during the spring semester.

Not trying to sound sexist, but many college students, especially those male carbon units in the cold north head to Florida or warmer climes for a week of "beer, beaches & broads."

The women just go to look at guys. ;)

Bush to Acknowlege Mistakes, Tout Iraq Success
White House Tries to Reiterate Case for the War as Anniversary Nears

March 17, 2006 — The White House knows the news media pays a lot of attention to anniversaries, and the third anniversary of the start of the Iraq War is no exception.

President Bush's aides also know some of that coverage, maybe a lot of it, will be negative. So, the White House has its own public relations offensive under way. First up is Bush's radio address on Saturday, then a speech to a nonpartisan group in Cleveland on Monday, the day after the anniversary. Another speech will follow on Wednesday. None of this effort may do the president any good in the polls, but as one adviser put it: "You gotta do something. You can't just sit there and let your opponents dominate news coverage of the war."

Several Republicans in Congress have complained recently that the Bush White House is tone deaf on a number of important political issues. But on the issue of Iraq, even Bush critics admit the president "gets it."

Pictures vs. Words

Time and again Bush has tried to persuade Americans that the war is not only winnable but also worth the costs of victory. The public, though, has been more impressed by what it sees on television. Republican pollsters say that until there is better news from Iraq, Bush's speeches may have little impact. In other words, they say, the old cliché is true: A picture is worth a 1,000 words, or maybe much more than that.

One poll after another reflects American dissatisfaction with the war. A new USA Today/CNN/Gallup poll shows that six in 10 believe the war has had a negative impact, that it is going badly. That's a far cry from polls a month after the invasion, which reflected overwhelming confidence that the war had gone well. Iraq has also helped drive down the president's personal popularity. A new Pew poll shows his approval at only 33 percent, a career low from major polling organizations.

LEAK: Bush Anniversary Speech Admits Iraq Failures

(2006-03-18) — President George Bush will mark the third anniversary of the invasion of Iraq by admitting he made mistakes, and asking Americans and Iraqis for forgiveness, according to a draft of the speech, leaked to journalists today.

On Monday the president will tell a nonpartisan group in Cleveland that despite the best efforts of American troops to capture Iraq’s oil production for U.S. consumption, the price of gasoline at the pump remains high.

“Frankly, I misunderstimated the difficulty of the war for oil,” the president will say. “I thought it would be as easy for us as it was for European leaders to pocket kickbacks from Saddam under the United Nations Oil-for-Food program.”

According to the draft manuscript, the least popular president of the modern era will also admit he shouldn’t have taken such aggressive action against Mr. Hussein until he could absolutely prove the Iraqi dictator still had stockpiles of biological and chemical weapons.

“I’m sure I’d have a lot more support for the war if I could have pointed to a bigger body count beyond the mere 5,000 civilian Kurds that Saddam gassed,” Mr. Bush will reportedly say. “Clearly, mistakes were made.”

The president will also express regret that the U.S.-led war has forever altered the politics of Iraq.

“My sensitivity to Iraqi culture is not what it might have been,” the president is slated to confess. “My actions have produced a bewildering array of candidates and choices at the polls, instead of the traditional one candidate, ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ ballot. The Iraqis will never again enjoy that kind of simple life, and that’s my fault.”

As part of a massive PR push to rescue his presidential legacy, Mr. Bush will also apologize that the Iraq war has distracted his administration from protecting the homeland against al-Qaeda mastermind Usama bin Laden, who remains at large.

“While I was focused on Iraq,” Mr. Bush will confess, “Bin Laden could have easily taken down a dozen more skyscrapers, set off a nuculer (sic) weapon in the port at Philadelphia and dirty-bombed Washington D.C.. I guess it’s just dumb luck that those things never happened while I looked the other way. But that doesn’t excuse my incompetence. To the Americans who might have died in those attacks, and to their potential surviving loved ones: I’m truly sorry.”

Mr. Bush will also agree with critics who contend he has failed to “win the peace” and has pushed Iraq to the brink of civil war.

“I’m afraid the U.S. occupation of Iraq has driven otherwise peaceful religious people to blow up innocent civilians as the only way to protest our oppressive presence,” the president will note. “If it weren’t for me, the Sunnis and Shiites would all join hands with Kurds and Baathists and they’d sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual — free at last, free at last, Allahu Akhbar, we’re free at last.”

The president will acknowledge that his biggest mistake was misinterpreting the word ‘resolution’ in 12 years of United Nations resolutions about Mr. Hussein’s failure to comply with the terms of cease-fire from the first Gulf War.

“I thought the root of that word was ‘resolve’, which means to reach a firm decision, to deal with successfully,” Mr. Bush will say. “My limited language skills led me astray. As most global leaders know, ‘resolution’ comes from the Latin word ’solvere’ which means to loosen or release, as in ‘dissolve’. Again, mea culpa. That’s Latin for ‘my bad’.”

Casey is making the rounds on all the shows today. He is on with Wolfie now; Wolfie asking some stupid questions, imho. Casey is doing a great job, talking about the positives. Wolfie shows a clip of Operation Swarmer where the CNN "reporter" was an embed, and discussed how this was not really a mission, and went on the wag the dog storyline. GEneral Casey explained to Wolfie that the mission covered a broad section of Iraq, and that the "embed" was on a mission subset that did not include any raids. HEHE. LOL, Casey calls Wolfie Tim in response to a political questions. Casey does know what lane he is resonsible for and won't get pulled into the political debate that Wolfie is pushing.

Good observation MNJohnnie, I agree 100%. These people could easily make millions in private sector. Their honesty & values (forget what MSM spins) glow on them in what they do. I wish Liz Cheney would come to politics.
