The Talk Shows
Sunday, March 19th, 2006
Guests to be interviewed today on major television talk shows:
FOX NEWS SUNDAY (Fox Network): Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill.
MEET THE PRESS (NBC): Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa.
FACE THE NATION (CBS): Vice President Dick Cheney.
THIS WEEK (ABC): Sens. Chuck Hagel, R-Neb., and Jack Reed, D-R.I.; Olympic speed skater Joey Cheek.
LATE EDITION (CNN) : Sens. Richard Lugar, R-Ind., and Joseph Biden, D-Del.; Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister Ahmed Chalabi; Afghan Foreign Minister Abdullah Abdullah; former national security adviser Zbigniew Brzezinski, former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger.
Watching Gen. Casey's face, he has got to be thinking what a tool this guy is.
Chrissy Matthews had a democrat 'strategerist' on the other night who said that was one of 3 words they got back from a focus group poll they ran on what negative terms people attach to Bush.
%%%%%
How competent was it for Debbie Stabenow to stand in the Senate Chamber beside a WIDE sign that said "Dangerously Incompetent"?
I spent yesterday afternoon watching the Paris melee on FOX... and keying in my order to Bass Pro Shops. I'm afraid I paid more attention to the latter.
And as usual, we will be reminded by Russert that "we didn't find WMD."
All Russert can throw at him is a technicality from a prediction Casey made one year ago.
Good to hear!
One small item that always seems to be missing in these discussions. Comparing Kosovo and Bosnia to Iraq, where's the outrage and demands to leave?
I believe the real fear Democrats have relates to USA success in Iraq, while NATO and UN failures are all over the globe. The facts will be, if you want it done, done well, done right, then have the USA do it. The UN is worthless and NATO is becomming too laden with countries like France who are inept and doomed to make any action a failure.
MTP
Ooooouuuhhhhhhh!
Russert's pulled out the big guns this morning. He's got poll number charts !!!!!
You still call a phone... a 'blower'?
Morning all, thanks AB for the thread.
The Sunday Morning t.v. talk show "A" team":
Seattle Conservative, Anita and Phsstpok, way to go last week guys.
35 HOURS 38 MINUTES UNTIL JACK BAUER KICKS THOSE TERRORISTS AROUND AGAIN.
Durbin on FNC .. It's been 3 years with no end in sight
By that thinking we should have stopped fighting in the Revelutionary War .. The Civil Will .. WWII
Will he be awake, will it matter?" - - -LOL!
"I saw that he was one of the Republican bastids who voted NO on keeping 'hands-off' SS funds. Way'ta'go DICK!"
For those who didn't see it, here's an article that eeevil posted on the ss funds:
53 Senators vote to raid the Social Security trust fund
Yesterday, Senators Jim DeMint and Mike Crapo introduced an amendment to prevent the current Social Security Surplus from continuing to be spent. 53 Senators voted against it.
After the vote, DeMint issued the following statement:
Sadly, fifty-three senators turned their backs on Americas seniors, Senator DeMint said. There is simply no way to save Social Security if we dont have the courage stop using the surplus as a secret slush fund. Im thankful there were forty-six senators who stood with Americas seniors to end the raid. We will not be deterred by cynics who offer no solutions.
Those who voted against this amendment voted to raid Social Security, said Senator DeMint. Now, every senator will be on record whether they oppose or support the raid. This said absolutely nothing about personal accounts, it was about whether you believe Social Security should be saved or allowed to wither on the vine.
Details about the amendment via a DeMint press release are in the extended section.
UPDATE: Pasted below are the 53 Senators who voted to raid the fund -- Republicans who should no better are in bold. Click here to see the whole breakdown.

Thank you dear lady
ROFLOL, what a great comment. I can just see Timmy in my mind asking questions using his "serious voice."
Yep but mainly people of my age and older though I suspect younger people would know what it meant.
Also dog which stand in cockney slang stands for dog and bone phone.
Listening to the doom and gloom and ugly remarks of Durbin, I can only hope that the panel shoots him DOWN. Otherwise, I fear for my TV screen.
So you finally decided to come in out of the cold. Say Rod, did you notice how many posts we had on last Sunday's tread?
ARG! Turbin Durbin is spinning like crazy on FNS. Wallace is doing a good interview -- I have grown to respect him more and more, as I think he is a good interviewer and doesn't just buy into the DNC spin. The democrat "plan" is the Bush plan -- turn over security to the Iraqi forces, which according to General Casey, who was also a guest, is underway and successful. The doom and gloom by the dems is growing old -- the whole strategy of trashing Bush and our troops will ultimately backfire. I look foward to the November elections, as I think the pubbies will hold both house and senate. Chris is really taking Durbin to task on the NSA story, and Durbin is spinning away like crazy. HA.
General Casey was on first for about 15 minutes.
Chris Wallace is going hard against Durbin.
