Live thread from Fayetteville, NC.
About 50 early arrivals in support of the troops have gathered ahead of the leftist "anti-war" rally in Rowan Park.
This is the third year that FreeRepublic, in conjunction with Rolling Thunder, the veteran's motor cycle club, has organized a Support the Troops Rally to counter the Leftist Demonstrations here in the home town of Fort Bragg and Pope Airforce Base. This is the home of 82nd airborne division and 18 airborne corps, and we are proud and grateful for all they do to defend freedom!
I am posting from a handheld, so those of you with better high speed access are invited to post additional information on the leftist speakers on the thread.
I will provide on-site real time commentary and post photos this evening.
Please ping your lists!
Among some of the performers at the leftist rally are the "Cuntry Kings" who "fashion femnist anti-racist drag performance from the raw material of pop culture, Southern queer experience, and national disgrace."
Here is some information on some of the leftist speakers scheduled for today...
RayMcGovern has been the towel boy for Revolutionary Communist Party's Clark Kissinger.
Clark set up two front groups, World Can't Wait www.worldcantwait.org and www.BushCommission.org, a "People's Tribunal".
Here's the press release where McGovern is Clark Kissinger's towel boy. http://www.commondreams.org/cgi-bin/print.cgi?file=/news2006/0109-02.htmCitizen's Tribunal Indicts Bush Administration for War Crimes and Crimes Against Humanity; Indictments to be Delivered to White House The indictments will be delivered to the White House by: Retired CIA analyst Ray McGovern, authors William Blum and Larry Everest, Code Pink, Mike Hersh (Progressive Democrats of America/After Downing Street), Kevin Zeese (Director, Democracy Rising; candidate for U.S. Senate in Maryland), Travis Morales (World Can't Wait -- Drive Out the Bush Regime) and others TBA.

The movement is in no doubt about what will follow its coup. "After that," the WCW website explains, "there are people in 'World Can't Wait' who are working for everything from impeachment to communist revolution." That revolutionary mission is in keeping with the fact that the movement is effectively a shell campaign for the Revolutionary Communist Party. Indeed, fomenting revolution is a longtime passion of WCW head Charles Clark Kissinger. Through the agency of his communist front organization, Refuse and Resist, Kissinger, who is also the founder of the Maoist anti-war group Not In Our Name, played an instrumental role in fanning the flames of the 1992 Los Angeles race riots. Kissinger proclaimed the riots, which left 58 people dead and 2,300 injured, an act of "rebellion." A kindred revolutionary fervor extends to the WCW's younger leadership. By no means an anomaly is Allen Lang. A member of the WCW's national steering committee, Lang is also a self-professed member of the Revolutionary Communist Youth Brigade.

Leftist numbers are way down this year. My best estimate is only about 250 leftists! Their rally is an abysmal failure.
Thanks for the ping!
Bump!
CNN did a piece earlier today about a "peace" march in, I think, Gulfport. It caught my attention because there were very, very few marchers.
The beauty of today's event is that any momentum that the "anti-war" activists may have achieved in Fayetteville has been broken.
www.news14.com Fayetteville police prepare for rally Updated: 3/17/2006 11:32:32 AM By: Stacy Neumann & Web Staff (FAYETTEVILLE) -- Hundreds of people are expected to attend a rally in Fayetteville on Saturday. The event marks the third anniversary of the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq.
Both peace activists and counter-demonstrators will be there. On Friday, mounted patrol officers saddled up and practiced crowd control for Saturday's rally. "A mounted officer on his horse can generally do the work of ten police officers so this is a force multiplier, explained Fayetteville Mounted Patrol Officer Michael Ruff. Fourteen horses can move 140 people back." The Fayetteville Police Department is getting help from four other area mounted police and foot patrol officers from eight surrounding agencies are also on hand this weekend. Law enforcement says the aim is to make sure everyone stays safe and you can help.
"If you're gonna come to the area, we ask you to carpool with somebody and also what we're looking for is, we don't want people carrying large signs out there, said Sgt. Steve McIntosh. We're limiting the size of the sign. We don't want any big stick signs in case of trouble. We don't want people getting hurt." Besides the signs, weapons, alcohol and pets also shouldn't come into Rowan Park. Officers will be searching folks at the entrance. Fayetteville police only had to arrest one person during last year's rally and they hope this year will be quiet as well.
That's what we're looking for, for it to be a safe outing, Sgt. McIntosh continued. Enjoy the peace rally and make sure nobody gets hurt out there." Police say the Fayetteville rallies have always been well attended and well behaved. They have no reason to believe Saturday will be any different. If you plan to go to Rowan Park on Saturday, officers are closing off Woodside Avenue from Hay Street to Rowan Street. Only residents along the road will be allowed there. Officers are also closing Athens Avenue at Woodside. |
PING! Nothing more fun than FReeping the leftwingnuts!
(03/18/06 -- FAYETTEVILLE) - Thousands of people were expected to gather today in Fayetteville for an anti-war protest to mark the Iraq invasion's third anniversary.
This year's rally is personal for Quaker House organizer Chuck Fager. Iraqi insurgents kidnapped and killed his friend and fellow activist Tom Fox.
"It's a personal tragedy, but he gave up his life bearing witness for peace," Fager said. "In a way, that sets a powerful example."
Kristinn Taylor says the planned protest send the wrong message to the United States' enemies.
"You can't have it both ways," she said. "You either support the troops and relay that support to the troops and support what they're doing, because the troops believe in what they're doing."
A small crowd of counter-demonstrators are expected for Saturday's rally, as well as a small army of police officers to keep the peace.
Wish I was there!
I'm still not able to ride that far!
We have one going on in downtown Indianapolis. The radio station (WIBC) has it's window on the Circle in the center of town. The morning guy said to come on down, there was plenty of parking, but be sure you remember to bring the correct signs. He then pointed out that at the last anti-war rally there were a bunch of people with PETA signs. LOL!
Have sign, will travel?
Thank You. Go for it!!
Supporting the troops bump!!
