What is the origin of your screen name? Come tell us your story.... How'd ya choose your screen name? A situation in your life? Part of a song? Your Military service?
For me, it was three times I came across "Misbehavin" that decided it for me! I bought a blouse that had that on the tag... Then my MIL gave me a book about a cat called Ms.Behavin.. Then I heard the song "Ain't Misbehavin!"
So there ya have it! Have fun! Please, no politics in The Canteen.. We want our troops to rest, relax and relate!
Now tell us YOUR story!! |

I cannot imagine having to explain Far Side cartoons to someone!! Not all of them were gut-busters, but a lot of them were funny. I guess one has to have a twisted sense of humor.

I work at an engineering company and I guess it is the warped sense of humour of engineers they all seem to love Far Side humour.

LOL -- I posted it SOMEWHERE on this thread, but I think it'll be easier to retype than look for it! HA!
MY first name is Starlette, but no one pronounces it correctly. They usually accent the first sylablle, but instead they should have equal weight. The fact that no one ever said it right annoyed me, so I just go by Star. Which is OK but a lot of people still want to make it Starr. LOL
CMC refers to the fact that I am a Creative Memories Consultant. (It has nothing to do with the Marines! LOL)
Ta-da!! Not too exciting, I know! OH! And no, my parents were NOT flower childen! LOL

I know engineers too LOL :D definitely warped sense of humor in that community!!
I was an anthropology student, so Gary Larson became very popular in those circles as well. My fav Far Side cartoon is the one of the cave children in an class room, with a hairy ape sitting in the middle of the class, and the cave teacher is saying "well it looks like one of us won't be moving up today."
I really wish Larson would allow his comics to be put up on the internet.

Sorry about your throat.

Going through a lot of stress leaves you susceptible.

It's war. What is amazing to me is how few casualties we take. Doesn't make it any easier to live with but in the brutal arithmetic of war, the terrorists are losing badly. He told me about it and it was not pretty. A few months back he happened to be looking back at his rear vehicle in a convoy when the vehicle took sniper fire. He watched the vehicle commander, one of his men, die. These are the sort of images these men will live with the rest of their lives. How can anyone hear of stories like this and NOT honor them?

It's NYTexan's birthday and he wanted to celebrate it in Texas...his first love. And so we are!
