On a serious note, Dennis Prager has an interesting opinion on the subject of executions. He says that a murderer should be killed in the same manner as the victim. Shoot your victim and you'll be shot; cut their throat and yours will be cut.

YAY! That worthless piece of $hit Smith should be taken out back and haver a bullet put in his brain ASAP.

But that's not the way we do things in a "civilized" society.

Hey God, a little help here, please

God is on His timetable, not ours.

When Satan takes his every 50-year break from sticking needles in Smith's eyeballs, and when the demons assigned to Smith's case are satiated from gnawing on his testicles, God will no doubt look down on a job well done.

And he will be pleased that the State of Florida did not delay Mr. Smith's rendezvous with perpetual torture.

It'll take 15-20 years before it happens.

Nope, Florida is a lot like Texas, in cases like this where there is video evidence, etc., you go to the front of the line. He'll be dead in about a year and a half.

"Actually O'Reilly's idea of punishment is hard labor for the rest of one's life. This would be better than the death penalty. Humane Death is too easy."

His posturing is to stay within the RC groove, but it's borderline phony -- there is no possible way any state will ever be able to force a lifer to break rocks for 50 years.

If BOR wasn't instinctively a poseur, he would come to terms with the realpolitik of what passes for punishment in this country.

If indeed a lifer in the US could receive a "Sisyphus sentence" "for life", I'd reconsider the DP.

And to think that piece of crap Smith has a nine-year-old daughter, just two years younger than Carlie when she was raped, tortured, and strangled.

Thank God he'll never get near his own daughters again.

Probably 10 to 15 years. Of course death penalty cases are automatically appealed.

Jim, I agree with you 100%.

But I was asking God to help Susan Schorpen.

"Absent from the courtroom was Carlie’s mother, Susan Schorpen, who is in jail in Pinellas County on drug and prostitution charges. She has said the pain of losing her daughter led her to institutionalize herself three times and take drugs to numb the pain."

However, the first sentence in your reply is still valid.

God is on His timetable with Ms. Schorpen, not mine.

Seeing her pictures I had great compassion for her and none for him. He has forfeited his right to exist.

During that hearing, Smith spoke publicly for the first time, saying, “I take responsibility of my crimes. I don’t understand how this could have happened. ... Every day I think about what I did and beg God for forgiveness.”

I'm all for that. In fact, he should be assisted in asking personally, ASAP.

BRING BACK OL' SPARKY!!

Good idea.

Set it on "SLOW FRY" for this cold-hearted, calculating demon.

Beyond doubt, that's the best way to do it, especially if the victim's family members are allowed to participate.

Instead awaiting execution on death row, he should be locked up in general population for "as long as he survives lives". That way instead of 10 to 15 years until death by injection, he'll get 2 to 3 years until death by gang rape.
