China is also addicting its people to bathrooms, baths, toilet paper, regular food, fashion, and knowledge about normal people (in the western societys) live..

They are capitalizing on socialism.. They are infected with capitalism.. While the leaders build carriers, the people ARE carriers.. They are carrying a need for stuff.. which brings envy which is liberalism.. They might be yellow but they are getting greener, green with envy.. Currently they are in a race with Indias greeners.. Green is breaking out all over..

Communist dystopia will be replaced by a Utopia of Envy..
Next step UNIONS.. the master plan of envy..

Exactly,

5000 year history, big whoop. Technically, my 1/8th Native American side has a good 15-40K year histoy.

China likes to have their commie cake and eat it too. They claim 4000 years, but had a "Cultural Revolution" where they rejected 3940 years of that history.

Chinese Civilization started around 1949.

How 20th century. Looks like the Chinese don't have the vision to become #1.

Yes...see my post 35.

I believe the PLAN will launch the Varyag in 2008 and it will be their first carrier and they will use it to train while they build two or more of their own designs. Here's how the Varyag is looking at present in the Chinese Naval shipyards:

See all the world's aircraft carriers at my carrier site:

"No, there are other purposes. For a country like China the national prestige value of owning/operating a carrier is a purpose in its own right."

Look what they're up to around the world. Look at all the analysis that has already been done, and what they've said themselves.

They need carriers to protect their oil and trade routes. Trouble is, we're in the way!

Given enough time and control of sea lanes, they will turn the world market on it's head.

Their long term goal is to secure their oil and trade routes. Ahhhh a thinking man, yep oil, they can read the future.

Exactly, the US is their second largest trading partner and buys the largest portion of US debt. they would hurt themselves at the same time but they don't need a aircraft carrier to severely affect the US. Just Cash in the debt and stop the trade. We can't pay the debt so every country in the world would want theirs too. It would be like a run on a bank.

It could also be a Russian carrier. Russia is thinking about selling a few of its old carrier hulls to China.

Or sold to them by disgruntled Israeli officials.

""The Chiense were the world's technological leader 1000 years ago and have the brains to get back there at some point in the not-too-distant future.""

Not so long as they ignore intellectual property rights. There is no incentive in China to invent anything, as it will be instantly stolen and pirated....in the longer term, more than 50 years, India will be a stronger power than China

""Right now, the LAST thing we need to face is a Chinese navy filled with aircraft carriers bought and paid for by Americans courtesy of "globalization".""

The Chinese are capable to building aircraft carriers without people shopping at Walmart. The Soviets had carriers and we didnt trade with them

I sincerely doubt it. The wholesale transference of America's manufacturing capability to China in addition to the import of goods by Wal-Mart has provided them with untold wealth previously unavailable.

It is no accident that, at the end of WWII, 60% of the world's manufacturing capacity resided in the US. Today, we have less than 25% of the world's manufacturing capacity. Between Clinton's wholesale sellout of the US and Bush's sponsorship of China in the WTO, we are paying for their global military expansion; the announcement that they are going to obtain an aircraft carrier is proof of their increased economic power in the world.

Bush may like globalization, but I don't. It's dangerous and destructive.
