A large tornado has moved through Illinois and has just hit the City of Springfield. Spotters reported a large tornado moved through the city. Damage is being reported. Emergency responders are being called in from surrounding areas.
NWS reports that this was a large wedge tornado.

The image from NOAA's GOES Geostationary Satellite showed heavy cloud cover over Lafayette, Indiana.

Don't give me another thing to stress about. My friend in Lafayette is right near some tributary for some major river, can't remember which one.
Looks like the immediate QC is out of the red now. Whew! Mostly just heavy storms for us from now on, hopefully.

That is about the uglist storm I have ever seen. I am terrified and praying for my friend, Lafayette and other towns in the path of that monster.

Down here in the Duncan to Rush Springs area we're under a red flag warning until midnight. About 15 minutes ago I stepped outside to let the dogs out and the smell of wood burning is extremely strong. I turned the scanner on and they've located area's of smoke but haven't located fire. They're also looking for someone who has been seen stopping alongside the county roads and trying to start fires.
The fire that they're looking for is west of me and the wind is out of the west blowing steady at 20-25 mph with gusts to 35.
My in-laws are in Cherokee Village which is Northern AR. Any news on that area? It's about an hour from Jonesboro.
We are very concerned with that as we have family there.
I live near Columbia, MO and we are in for a long night. Numerous tornadoes all across MO. A bus full of college students was blown over near Moberly, MO. and a semi was blown over on cars on I-70 west of Columbia. Local weathermen are stating they have never seen an outbreak such as this. Hope everyone stays safe.
Reports earlier of power outages and downed power lines, also a few fires from lightening. Have you been in touch with her? We are escaping the really bad stuff, I think. Some flooding happening in RI also.
Everything has gone by for now, no hit in our little town of Fair Play. Looks like Stockton might have gotten it, again. They just took a hit three years ago. I hope they are okay.

That doesn't sound familiar, but what do I know. I have only been there once for around 5 days.
I live right along the river in Port Byron. Just looked out my window and Le Claire is DARK!
