Shocking photos are now available that link Texas State House District 48 Republican Candidate Don Zimmerman to Senators Hillary Clinton and Ted Kennedy.
Don Zimmerman's opponent, Jeff Fleece, has mailed out an attack ad claiming that "Don Zimmerman stood with liberal Democrats like Ted Kennedy and Hillary Clinton against President Bush".
Now the truth can be revealed.
On December 5th, 2003, Hillary Clinton came to Austin, Texas to promote her Living History book. We have uncovered evidence that Don Zimmerman was there to greet her as she arrived at BookPeople in downtown Austin.
Only a week later on December 12th, Ted Kennedy visited the Four Seasons Hotel in Austin to speak on the Bill of Rights. We have documented evidence that Don Zimmerman was at the scene in the dark of the night to greet Ted Kennedy as well.
You are about to see these shocking photos of Don Zimmerman "standing" with Hillary Clinton and Ted Kennedy revealing these secret meetings back in the first 2 weeks of December, 2003.

Don is also quoted in a December 6, 2003 Austin American Statesman Article:
"I'm still angry about the lies the Clintons got away with," Don Zimmerman said. "If any stiff on the street did what Bill did, they'd be in jail."
Don Zimmerman holds sign, saying Ted Kennedy is speaking on the Bill of Rights? Is he for or against?
Don Zimmerman holds sign, saying Ted Kennedy denies the Right to Life, Religious Freedoms, the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, Parental Rights, and States Rights
Don Zimmerman has on occasion joined the Heart of Texas Chapter of FreeRepublic.com in standing AGAINST liberal Democrats like Hillary Clinton and Ted Kennedy.
Don has also been out front fighting for the taxpayer against unneccessary spending and fighting for the recent Proposition 2(Traditional Marriage Amendment).
Here are the Hillary and Kennedy FReep threads:
Texas Expose Ping
Good God, get over it!
At the very least, you could add us:texas back to the list of topics.
This was at Hillary book signing protest and was totally appropriate.
He led 48%-42% in early voting, but the numbers flip-flopped on election day voting probably due to this baseless attack ad.
Can you link to the actual smear?
- Attacks President Bush on War On Terror
- At a time when President Bush needed support on the War on Terror, Don Zimmerman stood with liberal Democrats like Ted Kennedy and Hillary Clinton against President Bush
- Don Zimmerman even went as far as attacking President Bush in a letter to the editor calling him Tyrannical George, the King
Letter to the editor, Austin American Statesman, August 16, 2004
This was in a response to a Letter to the Editor of Don opposing American Citizens being held in secret without legal counsel. Fleece gets the date wrong, the reference to the King of England wrong, and smears anyone who doesn't want American citizens held in secret without legal counsel as standing with Hillary and Kennedy.
Here is the 8/16/02 letter:

Fight for rights
The American-Statesman states it correctly in the Aug. 11 editorial "Threatening to upend system of checks, balances," referring to an American citizen held in secret without legal counsel.
I'm stridently opposed to the terrorist killers we call the Taliban. I'm even more opposed to our own government denying the rights of the accused. Our own founders were branded rebels and traitors by the tyrannical George, the king. Shall we permit George W. Bush to plunder liberty for promised security?
When Big Brother fights our God-given freedom, let's wave our flags, not waive our rights.

Politics/Elections too.
I voted for Fleece because the groups I pay the most attention to endorced him. I didn't really know either one however. Is there any difference where the two stand on issues? I can't abide by an intentionally misleading attack but I also don't want to vote for someone who doesn't stand with me on the main issues.
Also, where was this attack? In flyers? On tv? (You can tell I tune out the local media quite a bit). I'd really like to know more about this race since it is my state rep.
I can also tell you that Don has aired some of the best political ads I have ever heard on the radio. Some of them cracked me up--but all of them made great sense!
This is forcing me to do some homework. I've now visited both of their websites and read some of the stuff that the Statesman has written. I'm probably undecided now at this point.
I'm going to need to do some more checking. Thanks for your input. FReeper input can be pursuasive to me.
Thanks.
It is my feeling that some of the local groups didn't endorse Don because they somehow blamed him for Jack Stick's loss due to the liberatarian vote, even though Don didn't even know the liberatarian candidate that ran in that race and that candidate didn't even spend any money in the race. It was a pure protest vote by some of the voters affected by Stick's vote that hurt their MUD(and probably some other issues). I know of one club that had a fallout on their board during that race because one of the board members didn't buy into the Jack Stick worship mentality that the other members were pushing.
Oh, the attack ad was a flyer sent out to traditionally Republican voters in that district. I'm surprised you didn't get one.
Adding Politics/Elections actually takes it off my sidebar since I don't have that category on mine. I was debating whether to add it to FR or Activism.
I might have but I've been busy lately and frankly had nothing pulling me into any of the races. Usually, I'm more up to speed.
This looks like a mini-repeat of the Streusand-McCaul thing. Things got dirtier in the run-off.
I think Fleece is the Bushie candidate. I'll know for sure if his supporters start using the word "electable" and his minions call me endlessly before election day. (GRRRRR!) He would be the McCaul candidate.
Zimmerman sounds like a Ron Paul clone which means he is really stong on some issues but he seems very weak on social issues, like most Libertarians.
I've got a month before I have to make up my mind so I'll pay attention to which one sticks their foot in their mouth. I will say this - the exaggerated attack ad looks pretty slimy.
Did you see the voter's guide link I posted in #14? He is solidly gainst abortion(endorsed by Texas Right to Life). He led the local campaign in support of Prop 2(Traditional Marriage). I joined him a couple of times on the 183/360 bridge and he was interviewed on one of the TV stations supporting it.
Maybe the Galveston Democrats will try to pull something dumb like this. We can only hope. :)
