The idea is to give folks a chance to muster their resources for that thread. I would particularly ask that anyone with specific knowledge or resources about the topics / guests announced for these shows post them here so that the rest of us can go into the shows with a heads up on what to look for.

Outstanding work, Phsstpok.
I wonder why Congress was afraid to let the 45-day investigation of the DPW deal go ahead. Dubai was willing to have it proceed.
Message to Muslims worldwide:
Captured terrorists, who hate the US, can get their day in court, and get released (and terrorize again)
but Dubai, an ally of the US, can not get its "day in court."

Thanks for the thread and I'm glad your surgery went well. Good. All I know is I'm voting no on pain, hospitals, doctors and dentists. I'm voting no on getting older too.

Thanks for the link. The saddest part of this whole chapter is it seems to be a lose-lose situation now. I hope that aspect can be turned around but it appears everyone loses except the Democrats who will try to keep using this as an election issue.
The one thing I'll be looking for, as this is discussed over the weekend, is what makes sense for future countering the claims Democrats are sure to make. I'm still convinced following the money and special interest group influence will eventually show the ultimate reason for the opposition to the Dubai Ports World deal.
To: Seattle Conservative
Thanks. This is what I was remembering too, if my mind is intact this early in the morning. When the DPW news broke there was speculation of automating the process, and that the unions were opposed to it for that reason.
To: Phsstpok
The common theme this weekend seems to be President Bush is a lame duck president. His reign is over and we can now prepare ourselves for the eventual Democrat congress and president in 2008. All the shows are jockeying to be considered the first to proclaim Bush over and identify the next president.
From my perspective, the Republican control of congress and President Bush's obituary is a little premature. Old media and the Democrats are running on wishes, not fossil fuel. They are beginning, again, to overplay their hand of assumptions and it will come back to haunt them.
As for Dubai Ports World, I hope nobody thinks this is over and forgotten. It will be off the front pages but the Bush Administration is certainly working behind the scenes to work with UAE and other Arab countries. Democrats will use this as a claim they are security conscious but time will show it was all about politics and Democrat supporters and donors. I'm guessing all the Q&A over DPW will be a showcase of Democrats somehow proving they care more about security than Republicans do. I doubt this will work in the long run as union fears and Democrat party donors are exposed in the future. It's kind of like Abramoff, they are starting out talking tough but will temper themselves as more becomes known.
Nor is there any mention of the Hillary/Harold Ickies creation of a new database to mine voter information, apart from the DNC. There is a real split in Democrat party ranks but it seems to be ignored, so far.

Howard Dean is secretly running for presidentI wouldn't put it past him.

I have always thought that Dean was going to attempt to use the DNC as a springboard to his own candidacy. He is too arrogant to take that position as a servant of the party; he isn't doing all that work for some OTHER candidate.
Should be interesting to watch the democrat firewowrks in the coming months.

I have always thought that Dean was going to attempt to use the DNC as a springboard to his own candidacy. He is too arrogant to take that position as a servant of the party; he isn't doing all that work for some OTHER candidate. I 've felt that way since the day he took over, particularly when he maneuvered to get the "grass roots activists" that supported his campaign in as the heads of the various state parties. It stopped being the Democrat National Committee and became the Dean National Committee.
He's lousy at raising funds, but that's only partly his fault. Hillary isn't going to let him be the one doling out goodies to candidates that would then owe him. She's built her own fund raising and distribution organization. Note how often folks comment that "Hillary is sucking up all of the fund raising money." She isn't doing that immediately for her Presidential run, but for this Congressional election cycle. If they win they all owe here. If they lose they can blame Howard.
And they're building, with Soros help, their own "back room" infrastructure, including this little jewel:
Hillary Guru Plans Database to Rival DNC; Soros Financed ('Data Mining' Stirs Intraparty Battle)
Should be interesting to watch the democrat firewowrks in the coming months.
Oh, yeah!

Dean is what the new, grass-roots of the DNC wanted in 2004... they bit their lip(think Clinton) when they voted for Frenchie. All this recent, moonbat adoration of Gore comes from the Deanies... so does all the anti-HRC talk.
We can only pray they get stronger!

MiD:
I think syriacus has asked the RIGHT question- and in the RIGHT way.
I think we can truly make the Dems the loser in this deal...
Between the fact that Eller FIRST went to TWO Republicans for help...and then out of frustration- headed to SCHUMER..WHO RAN TO THE CAMERAS and "PLAYED ON OUR FEARS"- this looks bad enough.... but add in the fact that they have squawed and squawed about the terrorists rights- releasing them to be free to kill innocents and our troops again, etc.... yet they won't give Dubai a chance for a REVIEW........
I know I am preaching to the choir- but syriacus put it beautifully....it is not about security with them... it is about UNIONS.... the math adds up....
see post 42...
I LOVE IT!
It has been said before- I think rodguy said it...

New article by Stephen Hayes on the unreleased Saddam files and tapes
Who'll Let the Docs Out?
This is the FR thread about this Weekly Standard article.
Pretty good guess that this is what he's on the Journal Editorial Report for tonight. Should be good. Ping your friends who are interested in the topic. This could be the breakout news event
Nah, there's at least two layers yet to go before the MSM acknowledges that the issue exists, and only then if they can spin it against Bush... of course, this article does give them that hook...

Remember Enron. When it began, Democrats said it was a Republican scandal. Democrats said Bush would help his Texas big business buddies.
Then they came out saying the US government had an obligation to help a failing company out. (Conyers said that, if I remember right.) Then it came out that Enron did go to the government to bail Enron out but they were turned down by the Bush administration.
Then the proverbial crap hit the fan as to their coverup and past influence with the Clinton White House became known.
This may well turn out the same way.
To: eeevil conservative
it is about UNIONS.... the math adds up.... Atta's crews chose United States airlines to hit the Twin Towers. There is still the possibility that Al Qaeda will use US-owned companies for their next attack.
I think that all the American-owned stevedoring companies that are thinking of buying parts of the old P&O should be obligated to undergo the same 45-day investigation that folks had insisted DPW should have undergone.
Let's see how well they allay Congress's fears.
