Yes, I'm sure McCain in doing this for purely political reasons; nevertheless, it's still the RIGHT thing to do (I don't really care why he's doing it).

The rest of the Republicans are such self-absorbed cowards they make McCain look good by comparision -- PATHETIC!

Wonderful, ohio! How about posting the photo of the young W that you used as your sketch model, alongside your work of art...

"Take a look at this face. A good, hard look at it.

Do you see contentment there? Do you see complete peace? Think about this man, and his deep faith, and his total serenity about the evil things that are said and done about and toward him.

And then pray for him, and thank God for him. It really helps when you're upset. (I know this for a fact!)"

BEAUTIFUL. JUST BEAUTIFUL.

I actually am related to someone who has run into McCain a few times.

He says the real thing is crazy and NOT what you see on tv. So there's one man's opinion. One that I respect.

I think that the President may feel he owes McCain one, however. There is just something there I can not explain.

I'm probably wrong though, and it would certainly depend on who is in the primaries.

In any case, I'm putting my efforts into helping my party dethrone Maria Cantwell for now. THAT would be quite an achievement.

Well, I don't like to post them side by side, since I took artistic license with my sketch, but if you force me too, I'll post them (knowing that you know I didn't try to make it an exact likeness).

The photo.......

My sketch.....

I also recommend that you get involved with some 'like-minded' folks. You could contact your state/local Republican Party and/or Steele's campaign headquarters!

That's a good thing to do. I'm hoping that since I'm graduating in May of next year, I'll be able to help out with the 2008 campaign. Maybe not in an official capacity but I can at least volunteer.

ROFL. Well, that is a somewhat dubious honor, but I'm glad I can be first. LOL.

I am a HUGE old tv fan. I just blew through two seasons of the old Bob Newhart Show and laughed myself silly. Bob always sort of reminds me of my dad. I'm not sure why. I think it's the twinkle.

Anyway, I wish there was a way to make money off strange old sitcom trivia!

I understand to some extent where you come from but I suppose political and moral issues are somewhat more defined in the Britain.

I think many Americans would find it difficult to vote for anyone because I cannot think of one politician who would have as pro life views as many do in America. The most we can get from our new party leader is that he would like to see the time limit of 24 weeks reduced.

My stance is that personally I do not agree with abortion, I would not condemn anyone for having one as I realise that in most cases they feel they no other choice.

If some asked my opinion I would try to dissuade them and I have found talking to most women they favour abortion only up to about 12 weeks which my leader has said no way would he advocate it being that low.

I must admit I do not even know what my local MPs views are somehow to me I am more interested in getting him elected to add one more Conservative MP to the Parliamentary number. The abortion issue I know where I stand and that to me rightly or wrongly does not affect my political allegiance. I understand though it is somewhat different in America.

Hang in there my little hobbit, do you not have a local party that you could meet others of similar views? Maybe get involved in local campaigns or something?

Funniest moment in ALL of television.....

The last episode of the new Bob Newhart when he gets hit in the head, and wakes up in bed with Suzanne Pleshette.

I literally fell off the couch in gales of laughter. Seriously..........the cleverest thing ever done on TV!

Our ballot boxes are not opened until after the closing of the election. I suppose because of the greater numbers involved it is more difficult to impose that one.
