Unrest in Pakistan Setback for Terror War
(Full Story)

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan -- A week of unprecedented urban fighting in the wild tribal belt of North Waziristan has left scores dead and forced thousands to flee their homes, raising the stakes in Pakistan's war on Islamic militancy along the Afghan border.

A jumbled alliance of foreign militants, local tribesmen and Islamic students eager for jihad have stepped up resistance in a region where the army already claims to have wiped out al-Qaida as a viable fighting force.

The unrest, brewing for months, is a setback to the U.S.-led war on terror. Further hampering that effort are deteriorating relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan over Afghan claims that Taliban leader Mullah Omar is hiding in Pakistan and suicide bombers are training here.

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "(CNSNews.com) - Rep. Cynthia McKinney, a liberal Democrat from Georgia, says she "deeply regrets" her "unfortunate confrontation" with a Capitol Hill police officer on Wednesday.

McKinney reportedly struck the officer in the chest when he stopped her for bypassing a metal detector, something that members of Congress are allowed to do.

The officer apparently did not recognize McKinney, who struck him when he put his hand on her arm to get her attention."


ARTICLE SNIPPET #2: "McKinney is no stranger to controversy. She made headlines in October 2001 for pursuing a $10 million check from a Saudi prince - after New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani returned it.

The money was intended to help victims of the Sept. 11 terror attacks, but Giuliani and many other Americans were offended when the prince suggested that the U.S. had brought the attacks on itself by supporting Israel at the expense of the Palestinians.

Then in March 2002, McKinney suggested the Bush administration had been warned about the Sept. 11 attacks - but had failed to act on those warnings."

We've all seen the signs, we now, according to these lawbreakers, don't belong in our own country. They want us out and that has been their plan for many years. That is why they send them across the border in mass and that is why they have 10 kids which also entitles them to welfare. Just wait until they get amnesty, the cities and states will go broke, there will be NO medical care for anyone. We are in a huge downward spiral and the prez/congress fiddle and pimp for election money [that is all they care about]while the country is burning.

I wish there was one state that would say stop, we will not allow this to happen to our citizens. I would move there and would be willing to help in whatever way I could. /daydream

No threat after hospital "terror" arrests

LONDON (Reuters) - Police who arrested four men under anti-terrorism laws at a hospital in central England said on Thursday said there was no evidence of a terrorist incident or threat.

But they were continuing to hold the men while they tried to unravel the "complex set of circumstances" that led to the arrests at Stafford District General Hospital on Wednesday night.

Buckingham Palace confirmed that a planned visit by Queen Elizabeth to Stafford on Friday was going ahead as planned.(snip)
