When it comes to politics, perception is reality.

What a medical diagnosis has to do with this is a mystery.

I think you and I are on the same page, the deal is alright, not exactly perfect, but, the media angle sucks. That is what is getting to us all. We all, us amateur politicos, see it, why doesn't Bush's team see it? That's the most frustrating thing. And we express that frustration here. Bush should be running 24/7 adds refuting the msm bias.

I think Americans were suprised to find that Americans did not operate ports.

Americans operate American ports. This deal has nothing to do with port operation. It has to do with the operation of a few terminals within ports, but was completely misconstrued with such a holler that very few people have any idea what is going on, and the deal itself isn't even being discussed - just some hypothetical deal that no one is trying to do.

In Houston, for example, there are more than 150 terminals. Confusing the two is at best hysterical hyperbole.

P&O leases space at one Houston terminal for container repair and container storage, and provides queueing and stevedore services at another. It does not own either terminal, and DP World won't either (though as I understand,, it does own some terminals in other ports).

The stevedore service is manned by U.S. Union Longshoremen, and the cargoes are sent where U.S. customs specifies. They are not allowed to be opened until delivered to the customer except by U.S. Customs.

Now...does that sound even remotely like the conversation being screamed around the country?

Yes there is MSM media bias against the president.

Well then, you admit that the President has hurdle that clinton never had.

That's not an excuse for his utter failure to communicate his message in the last year.

Well when you have the deck stacked against you by a biased media(which you admitted), it is doubly tough and I can understand the "reality"(biaed MSM).

I really gotta go, have fun in your perceptive(non-reality) world.

"Americans of both major political stripes, in significant numbers, don't trust Arab Muslims to run the ports."

But, you see, they would only be running part of the ports. The hysteria factor is making it seem like they are going to eat the whole enchilada.

Speaking of enchiladas, perhaps this would clear it up for you...

Americans of both major political strips, in signifcant numbers don't trust Muslims to run a Taco Bell, much less a portion of a port.

This was NOT a "secret" deal. It was announced, in many newspapers LAST NOVEMBER! The Congress has NO say so, NONE, in such deals and the president doesn't, either.

And herein lies the problem. Most people have absolutely NO idea what they're talking about, have swallowed, as whole cloth, the rabid, disingenuous propaganda spewed out by the likes of Chuckles Schumer, Hillary Clinton, the N.Y. Times, and the crapola posted by completely UNINFORMED FREEPERS, all screamed at an hysterical pitch. WELCOME TO THE SALEM WITCH TRIALS!

And because of their opeeration of "terminals", they will have access to security plans at the ports where their terminals are. Thats unacceptable.

Just as calling those who oppose it "racist" as the administration has done.

If any racism is involved it is UAE who does not recognize Israel's right to exist
and partipates in an ongoing boycott of Israel.

Congress will soon pass a law that sinks this bad deal.

Because that's the way it is supposed to happen and National Security is a damned RED HERRING!

The Coast Guard is in charge of port SECURITY and DPW buying P&O has NOTHING whatsoever to do with security.

"While any one poll is suspect, the story across several polls (and in this case, all of the major ones) is that Dubya's popularity is very low, and showing low signs of life."

Aren't those the same polls that kept telling everyone that Dubya was going to lose in 2000 and 2004?

If I remember during the past few days there were some in Congress that didn't KNOW that most of our TERMINALS [not ports]were operated by foreigners.

If we could just STOP stating the Ports being taken over. We are adding to the confusion as are all Congress Persons by continually using the word "ports" instead of "terminals". THERE IS A DIFFERENCE.

No one is taking over or have any control over the ports. There are many terminals on the land around the ports. Are there not other terminals, on the ports being questioned? Or is Dubai taking over ALL the terminals in these ports?

Well, the good news is the law is about to change to sink the deal.
If you don't agree write your congressman.

Not to worry, congress will soon be passing a law to sink this bad deal.
If you disagree, I suggest that you write your congressman or congresswoman.

"Al Qaeda infiltrated the UAE government. Do you read the news?"

Did you bother to read the article that you linked? It says that Al Quaeda made that claim, that they made it 3 years ago, and that they made the claim to get some of their people released.
