For most teenagers, going to college is part of the American dream. But the cost of fulfilling that dream has become a source of controversy, as illegal immigrants sometimes pay less than U.S. citizens to attend the same college.
Illegal immigrants living in nine states can now attend public college at in-state tuition costs. But legal U.S. citizens still have to pay out-of-state tuition at schools outside of their home state. That price difference can be tens of thousands of dollars.
Many say it's discrimination if states offer a cheaper public college education to illegal immigrants, and some out-of-state American students are suing in federal and state courts. Others argue it's the best way to make sure immigrant students reach their potential.
"We'll be arguing it doesn't really matter if the U.S. citizens end up paying more or paying less but that they're being treated unequally," said Kris Kobach, co-counsel in lawsuits against tuition laws in Kansas and California. Kobach added that a 1996 federal law guiding this issue is "remarkably clear language for Congress — it makes it very clear you can't do this."
The federal Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996 prohibits public colleges from favoring undocumented students by offering them in-state tuition rates and not extending that offer to U.S. citizens.

If Utah can't repeal this kind of law, we're all doomed.
Out-of-staters should only write a check/pay for the in-state tuition.
Out-of state tuition costs a certain percentage more than in-state tuition; therefore, in-staters should take the same percentage off of the in-state tuition and just send that.
Hit all the colleges and universities where it counts. They listen to that.
PS: I know it is more complicated (financial aid, scholarships, grants, threats of not getting cretids, etc.). Just brainstorming here.
Since when does mowing lawns, babysitting, construction laborer, fruit picker, etc. require a college degree?

I think you could say you left the US legally but snuck back in avoiding customs, thus you are here illegally.
The illegals going to college aren't interested in such jobs. They are interested in becoming ACLU lawyers so they can sue citzens. Or ICE agents so they can let their favored types in or look the other way as the situation demands.

To qualify for instate tuition, the illegal has to meet the same requirements as everybody else.

Illegal aliens (all are criminals) should get no special perks. Instead, they should be prevented from getting any and deported pronto. They should not even be in this country, much less get a free ride at taxpayers expense. This is just perverted.

What's the point of admitting them to college at all? The law says it's illegal to hire them, and companies that want a degree are going to be much more careful about checking their backgrounds. If all you can get is a blue-collar job where they aren't too picky about who they hire, why waste your time getting a college diploma? And more importantly, why waste taxpayer money?
