Why would any normal person be interested in this year's crop of crap from the perverts in Hollywood? The most that any sane person would do is maybe watch the first short bit of monologue to see if there is any decent humor. As for the rest, I'll just take the trash and recycling out to the curb and tend to the weekly requirements of my household.

I don't do boycotts. Is it okay if I just don't watch because I'm not interested and because I can't stand Jon Stewart?

The very best part about this year's Oscars is that after they're done we will no longer have to hear how daring movies about frustrated transsexuals, gay authors, and pup-tent peter-puffing sheepherders are. Give it a rest already.

I've been not caring about the Oscars for a long time. Reflexive boycott.

Good idea. When are they so I can be sure to do something else?

TVLand has been running Andy Griffith all weekend. That's what I've been watching.

How can I boycott something I don't consume to begin with? No change in my behavior is required.

I have no desire to watch the Oscars...especially since I haven't gone to see a single movie this year.

I've noticed a trend with the 'big' networks -- whenever a 'big' event is being broadcast, most of the other networks choose to show reruns.

That doesn't always help, however. When NBC was running the Olympics, some of the reruns on other networks gave NBC serious challenge.

Tonight, most of the broadcast networks are showing reruns, again.

I can remember, back when I was kid, had to walk 10 miles through the snow, uphill in both directions, to school, barefoot....but I digress... Used to be that the other networks would 'challenge' a big event by broadcasting their own. Not any more, it seems. Some of the best nights for TV were when the big 3 actually competed and tried to out-program the others.

Mark Simone on wabc radio wanted to know, what does the category, Best Sound, really mean?

"Gee, Fred, I really liked the movie, especially the sound!"

For a while, the gown (or lack thereof) competition was the most interesting -- to see which 'star' would show up with the most bizarre or weird or outlandish gown. Then they got to be less and less material. I think the Academy finally passed a law that stated that all gowns must be contain at least 3 threads. Anything less would be considered indecent.

I got out of the Navy in January 1973. That year I'm pretty sure I watched the Oscars. I'm pretty sure they bored the bejeebers out of me. I guaran - darn - tee you I haven't watched them since then. I'd love to boycott, but it would not be much of a statement.
