On Feb 24th, we held ALL FOUR CORNERS DC Chapter and beyond including numerous members of George Washington Universitys College Republicans.
This was FReep #45 as FReepers have countered the anti-troop hate group Code Pink at their weekly obscene anti-war blood dance outside Walter Reed Army Medical Center for going on 12 months. Now that the Pinkos are completely gone from the gate, we had many more than the usual number of wounded troops join us or stop by to thank us for being there, but more importantly we get to thank them in person for all the hard, dangerous work they've done and the tremendous sacrifices they have made in our behalf. (The best part is the hugs!)
This is also my first attempt at writing the AAR from an event and Ive taken the liberty of copying copiously from BillF, who writes these reports better than anyone. BillFs computer is under the weather and we all wish it would get well soon. Albion Wilde provided essential backup and proofing as well as suggested content.THANKS ALBION!!!!
Code Pink is truly stuck in a quagmire, now a block away from the vehicle and pedestrian traffic entering the gate, as FReepers severely hinder the Pinkos' cynical attempts to manipulate severely wounded soldiers and relatives in hopes of finding those who will join the anti-war movement and break faith with the troops still fighting a ruthless enemy. Code Pink seems to be phasing out most of their participation in the protest and turning it over to other groups, as the number of Code Pink women has diminished considerably.
We are winning our psy-ops against the Pinkos and hindering their heartless psy-ops against our war-wounded troops. Please join us this Friday, Feb 3, at 6:30 pm per details below. Please also bump this thread to keep it on top. Stand up against the Pinkos who've endorsed "the Iraqi resistance" (as they call our enemy, see here and here), given money to the other side in Fallujah, and called our troops "killers." Then, the Pinkos demonstrate at the hospital and pretend that they support our troops.
Lifting the spirits of our war-wounded heroes is what we aim to do. If you live in the area, please join us. If you really can't join us due to work, family, or medical reasons or you don't live in the area, you can help in other ways by contacting Coop, Landry Fan, or PleaDeal by FReepmail for ideas.
The honor roll of those in attendance (lurkers are marked with an asterisk*):
Albion Wilde, Apple Blossom and daughter, beandog, Bill* from MD, BlackRepublican, BufordP, Coop, Fraxinus, GunsAreOK, CindyTrueSupporter, Dustin10thMountain, iMacMan [Mr. and Mrs.], Justanobody, Kristinn, PleaDeal, Ryan*, Son of TGSL, tgslTakoma, Tom the Redhunter, trooprally [Mrs], and at least 12 College Republicans.
We had coffee, hot chocolate, and various snacks on site.
The event was so large that I can only present that part of the story that I saw. If you were there, please describe your own experiences at the FReep. Also, let me know if I publish your photo without your name or, worse, I mislabel you in a photo or left you off the honor roll.
Opposed to our 36 patriots, the Pinkos were able to rally maybe 15-16 America-hating traitors and their well-meaning, but incredibly-misguided, dupes.

Now that the Pinkos have been effectively removed from their morale-sapping position to harass troops and relatives passing through the gate, we hold down the noise as there is no need to remind the Pinkos on their distant block of the shame that they should feel for their taunting of wounded troops. The commie Pinkos are really an afterthought now. It's a lot more fun without having to see their smug faces and listen to their tired, cliched '60s anti-war songs. Now we listen to a lot more honks and cheers and thanks from the passing motorists. The young folks are also predisposed to cheering very loudly!

This is usually where we put up the MOAB (Mother Of All Banners), but the evening stared out a little too windy.
Bus of wounded heroes returns to FReeper cheers. (photo by iMacMan)
The highlight of evening was when the bus of wounded heroes returns from a free meal at Fran O'Brien's, a fancy DC restaurant. The bus driver turned on the interior light in the bus and there were mutual cheers and waves between the troops and the patriots.
Let's help our wounded heroes maintain a positive attitude. We absolutely must keep the pressure on Code Pink and keep showing the wounded troops at Walter Reed that Code Pink doesn't speak for the nation. Even Cindy Sheehan thinks it's wrong to demonstrate at a military hospital. (See Kristinn's post "Cindy Sheehan: Protests at Military Hospitals Out of Bounds (Attn: Code Pink and Veterans for Peace)". If you live in the DC area and haven't yet come out for one of these FReeps, please do so this next Friday. Injured Walter Reed patients, including amputees, and their families have repeatedly told us how important it is for us to be there to counter Code Pink and their ugly anti-troops agenda. Can you give up next Friday night at the movies to support troops who've given up limbs for your freedoms? Will you? This FReep is rewarding, fun, and important for our troops and our nation. So come on out and make some new FRiends and thank some real Heroes! |
|
For those of you in the DC area, we still need some additional FReepers to join us for FReeping Code Pink every Friday night, until further notice, starting at 6:30 pm and until about 9:30 pm. How about coming out this Friday? You can join us in progress if you can't make the beginning of the event.
Come help us fill All 4 Corners
Can you sacrifice an evening to honor the much greater sacrifice that the troops are making for our freedom?
As always, the DC Chapter's rules for protesting will be in effect.
Briefly, they are: No violence. No profanity. No racism. No provocations. Obey the law. Treat all law enforcement officers with respect.
Walter Reed Army Medical Center, 7200 Georgia Ave. at Elder St., NW
Patriots have all four corners of that intersection with Protest Warrior having the permit for the two corners on the West and Free Republic DC Chapter having the permit for the two corners on the East.
On street parking is usually easy to find. Location is about 6 or 7 blocks from the Takoma metro station and is walkable, but it is best if you get a ride. If you want a ride, FReepmail tgslTakoma and/or BillF (assuming his computer comes back to life), preferably with your cell phone number as far in advance as possible. We'll do our best to arrange a ride from the Takoma Metro station for you.
DC FReepers ROCK!!
Thanks Freema! So do you!!!
