Here is the sign I made for the Freep. Jenny Hatch holding the Ward Churchill sign.

Michelle Makin Speaking at the CU event

I was very grateful to attend this event, and was NOT surprised when Ward Churchill decided not to attend.
Apparently Michelle had quite a time getting there...

DC Chapter ping.
Thanks for the pics.....you guys look great! Rocky Mountain High!
I thought you were sick and weren't going to attend?
I can't believe I didn't see you there! I'm glad you got to go.

Great job! Thanks for the AAR and photos. Love how your UN flag is now an ashtray! LOL
Looking for your report. ;*)
I'm having trouble getting pictures onto photobucket. I will add my comments after JennyHatch posts her report!
For you literal-mined folks out there, I was using "guns loaded" in the figurative sense.
Jan,
So did you freep??? I was on the east side of the math building. Wouldn't that be hilarious if you were freeping on the other side??
The pictures are my report, I don't really have anything else to say. It was a wonderful event, loved seeing all those young republicans and watching the video about 9-11.
I was still really sick, but just dragged myself out of bed and went anyway. Didn't want Ward Churchill's intimidation tactics to work.
Talk to you later...
Jenny
Wish I could have been there bump!
Please FReepmail me if you would like to be added to, or removed from, the Michelle Malkin ping list...
Thanks for the ping! :)
I was excited that my teenage daughter was able to come with me to this event! I never saw any protesters, just a few "confused" liberals!
Evidently Michelle had a very bad experience traveling to Denver, and she arrived a little late and exhausted.
Dinesh D'Souza spoke first, and he had the crowds attention from the start. He is incredibly smart, and his mixture of humor and wit kept the audience absorbed the entire 45 minutes that he spoke. Following are a few of his comments that were memorable to me!
He spoke about the war in Iraq and the enemy that we face. He said our war is not a war on terror!
"We are at war with a certain species of Islamic Radicalism!" He said the suicide bombers are NOT suicidal at all...that they want to live, they are just willing to die for a cause. Something he said I will not soon forget...
One of the things he mentioned that I was very happy to hear, is he told the truth about the Crusades, which I have not heard any where except here on FR! The Crusades were the Christians trying to DEFEND themselves from the Muslims, NOT the Christians attacking the Muslims. He covered a lot more, but those are some of the highlights.
I highly recommend buying his books and going to hear him speak if you ever get the opportunity. My 17 year old thought he was awesome, and I agree!
Michelle Malkin spoke next. It was obvious that she had had a very long and tiring day. She briefly mentioned her grievance with a certain airline, and then went on to speak. Her speech was almost entirely about her frustration and dissatisfaction with illegal immigration and how incompetently it is being handled by the Administration. One of her columns on this topic is posted here...
The Q & A time was very entertaining and educational. It seems that almost ALL of the questions were asked by liberals, which my daughter said was actually a GOOD thing, since they are the ones that need to learn! Is she a smart kid, or what? ;o)
A few gave speeches, and there was a black Muslim student who expressed his displeasure at some remarks made by Michelle. The President of the College Democrats introduced himself, and although I can't remember what question he asked, I have to say he was very respectful and did ask a good question. One question that was asked was to explain the difference between "left", "liberal", "right", and "conservative." Dinesh spent over 10 minutes with his answer, and I believe he could have spent an hour and still not fully covered it.
The College Republicans at the University of Boulder did a superb job at organizing this event. Thank you Ian VanBuskirk and the rest of the college Republicans for bringing the students and community of Boulder, two top-notch conservative speakers who provided a different point of view than what we usually hear in Boulder!
ROFLOL!!
The Crusades were the Christians trying to DEFEND themselves from the Muslims, NOT the Christians attacking the Muslims.
Spot on!
