Al Qaeda warned the government of the United Arab Emirates more than three years ago that it "infiltrated" key government agencies, according to a disturbing document released by the U.S. military. The warning was contained in a June 2002 message to UAE rulers, in which the terror network demanded the release of an unknown number of "mujahedeen detainees," who it said had been arrested during a government crackdown in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks.
The explosive document is certain to become ammunition for critics of the controversial UAE port deal, who fear the Dubai-based firm could be used by terrorists to sneak money and personnel into the United States.
Little is known about the origins or authorship of the message.
"You are well aware that we have infiltrated your security, censorship and monetary agencies, along with other agencies that should not be mentioned," the message said.
"Therefore, we warn of the continuation of practicing . . . policies which do not serve your interest and will only cost you many problems that will place you in an embarrassing state before your citizens.
"Your homeland is exposed to us. There are many vital interests that will hurt you if we decided to harm them."
The document was among a batch of internal al Qaeda communications captured by U.S. forces in the war on terror.

Oh, come on; it must be more fun to go off halfcocked without the facts!
And we believe them why?
"Ah.....SPecial Executive for Counter-intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion. Do you think a Walther PPK in 7.65mm or .380 ACP is enough to halt Al Qaeda????"
Hell, no! Need a .45 ACP.. a Glock 30 for example.
sandbar or General Tommy Franks, General Peter Pace, and Colonel Oliver North. Hmmmmm... this is hard! ;-)

And Timothy McVeigh came from Oklahoma and most of the 9/11 terrorists learned to fly airliners in this country. Terrorist financing has run through almost every international bank in the world. If you want to apply your standards consistently, we'd have to stop trade with all U.S. companies as well.
Could you possibly explain how some administrative home-office employee in the UAE is going to impact our port security? I mean specifically. Port security is our responsibility and independent of the civilian contractors we use to direct traffic at our ports. Already, most shipping containers arrive on foreign container ships. Even much of our military pre-positioning equipment is carried on foreign ships. Many of our ports are run by foreign companies. And here's a big newsflash, they have been throughout our war on terror. Who do you think was responsible for the ports where we unloaded all the equipment for our operations in Iraq?
Timothy McVeigh did NOT "come from Oklahoma!"
This is the 2nd time today I've seen that on FR! What is the deal with y'all? McVeigh was actually FROM New York and never lived in Oklahoma! Geez!
Oops. My mistake. Must be disinformation being spread by New Yorkers. I should have known better. I lived in Enid for a year, and never met any terrorists the whole time I was there ;).
Lol, one of THE worst hyperboles I've ever seen at FR.
Thanks,..I try. ;0) I'm just saying, the hysteria makes me shake my head.
No, I think they're all in Pauls Valley.
We have so many actors & politicians siding with the terrorists I've lost track. Every criminal in the US has its public supporters too. Patty Murray was particularly offensive, right after 9/11.
The fact that Al Quada is admitting this may be because Al Quada wants any deal that brings $ into a muslim country stopped and not becuae they have actually infiltrated the UAE government. It's easier to recruit and to stir agitation with the poor and oppressed in the M.E. than the well of and satiated. Just a thought....
Thanks :)
You're right -- truth can take time...
I know! Let's put them in charge of our ports!
Make me a list. I want to see who would offer protection without asking the UAE to "put out". And that's "put out" oil or be blackmailed. Really, show me the list.
i'm not a terrorist planner, but i will give it a try.
suppose al qaeda is shipping some sort of bomb into the US, with plans to blow up a major port city. suppose the feds get a warning from an informer, but the informer doesn't know the exact date of the shipment or which city is targeted.so our security people want to go through shipping records to try to home in on it.
now if al qaeda has a few sympathyzers working for the ports company in dubai, they could easily alter records to throw our security people off track.
someone with more knowledge about port operations than i have could probably lay out other scenarios.
The people against this Dubai Port deal are getting more pathetic by the second.
