I bet the Saudi man in the street wants his oil income cut off so he can lead a stricter, more virtuous religious life. /sarc

I bet the Saudi man in the street wants his oil income cut off so he can lead a stricter, more virtuous religious life.Actually, some unknown percentage of them really do want that -- maybe not his oil income cut off, but they do want to live by sharia law.

Ok. So the Sunni's are fighting the Shiite's, and the AQ's are attacking the Saudi's, (again.) So what's up? It isn't "Tet II" because they aren't attacking the US, and this won't do them any good in anti-war US public-opinion.
Though I have seen some complaints (as expected) somehow blaming the US for this violence.

Chickens coming home to roost.Yep, but not just for the Saudis. If terrorists succeed in taking out any of their refineries, we will all pay big time.

These are acts (Saudi and Iraq) designed to foment civil war and destined to fail.

wahabbismWahabbism. Sharia law. Whatever. I think many of those people -- yep, I used the decidedly non-PC THOSE PEOPLE -- would be killers no matter what law they follow.

The Saudis need to get more serious about rooting out traitors within the royal family. They know who they are, and how much money their giving. They could bring a quick end to this, if they have the stomach for it.

It isn't "Tet II" because they aren't attacking the US, and this won't do them any good in anti-war US public-opinion.It is the same now as it ever has been and will always be. This is the reason there will never be a united Arabia. They are still engaged in tribal warfare. Despite Iran's attempt to develop Islamic unity by trying to create an external evil, i.e., the Great American Satan, their relationships are always and will always be tribal. There will never be a united Islam. Even if it does not follow the true tribal lines, it is tribalism projected onto religious "orthodoxy".

these are acts (Saudi and Iraq) designed to foment civil war and destined to fail.It seems like the Saudi thing is pure AQ against US to strike our economy (thru oil.)
whereas the Iraq thing seems like an Iranian thing, designed to destabilize Iraq.
Wouldn't it be something if the Iranians try to enter Iraq to "restore peace" giving us ample excuse to retaliate? For that matter, how bout a "Gulf of Persia" resolution based on some funny radar reflections.....! ;-)
