Last week was an eventful one for San Francisco politicians on Fox News.
On Tuesday night, Supervisor Gerardo Sandoval was a guest on the Fox News program "Hannity and Colmes." Broadcasting live from San Francisco, Sean Hannity interviewed Sandoval about the ongoing controversy surrounding the USS Iowa.
As reported in this column last August, the Board of Supervisors voted 3-8 against docking the WWII-era Iowa as a floating museum at the Port of San Francisco. The decision was made despite the potential financial benefits to the city and the efforts of veterans groups, a Congressional delegation and Senator Dianne Feinstein to bring the Iowa to San Francisco.
Predictably, Sandoval defended the Board of Supervisors' decision and in the process, made a complete fool of himself. Not only did Sandoval stick to his pacifist principles by rejecting the icky display of WWII wartime heroism in the pristine San Francisco Bay, but he announced that the United States should have no military whatsoever. "The United States should not have a military," was how he put it.
When asked by an incredulous Hannity who would then protect the country, Sandoval responded that "the cops" and "the Coast Guard" could do the job. He must have forgotten that the police force is otherwise occupied and that the Coast Guard is part of the U.S. military he so abhors.
Even Hannity's liberal co-host Alan Colmes was aghast at Sandoval's bizarre proclamation and made sure to distance himself and (in his words) the Democratic Party from such fringe politics. Indeed, if there was anything Sandoval succeeded in doing with his appearance on Fox News, it was in exposing further how utterly out of touch San Francisco politics are with

We were told that California represented the wave of the future. One of the reasons for my present fondness for the past.
How about "San Francisco: An Embarrassment of Swishes"
You are correct. And before that they were under the Dept. of Transportation (DOT).
That being said; I don't think (or know of) there having been any change in having Coast Guard recruits go through Navy basic training, before being sent to their duty station.
When I was in Great Lakes, myself, I remember the Coast Guard recruits being looked down upon by the others. It didn't take me too long to realize the error of that way of thinking....

Nowadays, I'm even considering reenlisting, but I won't.
Liberals don't have to make sense -
Ask Cindy Sheehan, Jesse Jackson and and and. Just make absurd statements and for God's sake, stick to them! "I did not have sex with that woman", "I didnt know the meaning of the word (is)".
When we beat Iraq in 21 days it was because of "Clintons Army". When a protracted counter insurgency gets ugly it's "Bush's fault". Ask Newsweek about that reporting.
Liberals live in an ideological bubble that needs no basis what so ever. Ask them why they like socialist type economic structures and which nation they can give as an example where they ever worked well? Yet they think we need a national health care program.
The liberal mind is clouded by philosophy and dissattached from reality. An entitlement society works in their head since no one would ever abuse it.
You can never win an argument with a liberal since they need no reason, experience or empirical facts to back their position.
It sure would be different. The Germans had developed flying wing technology and were building the aircraft with a distance of 7000 miles. The factories still exist today. The objective was to drop a atomic bomb on NY city. The time frame was 1946. Things sure would have been different!!!
And iron jockstraps over your crotch!
Those are sold in the Castro District, one aisle over from the leather ones.
When I was in the Navy, we laughed at the Coasties, too. But I changed my way of thinking about them. These guys put themselves in harms way an a regular basis.
So where does the "embarassment of riches" come in?
And how many colons does a title need?
Just unreal....glad I am down south ....
We: colon: because: we: can:
:-)
How interesting to have the subject of "colons" come up in a post about San Fran.
Hey, keep your hands off my colon, man/woman/whatever!
The people who want the Iowa should take an example from Walmart.
Walmart tried for years to open a particular store in Chicago, and was blocked by liberal wingnuts. Finally they opened a store 2 blocks outside city limits.
The libs had a fit. Not only did they get the "Walmart influence" but then they got cheated out of their "rightful" taxes. Thousands of Chicagoans applied for those jobs.
It was fun to see the liberals spluttering about it.
In the event of an 8.2 earthquake, may I humbly suggest that any and all SF-bound relief shipments of food and medicine be banned?
I was in Chi town recently and there was an article in the Trib (I think it was the Trib, may have been the Sun Times) about the overwhelming amount of applications they got for some 300+ positions in that new store. Walmart was even impressed at the amount of interest that store generated.
The value and worth of the dollars Sandoval idiots are enjoying from comes by US defense of it with arms, blood & sacrifice.
If hypocrite Sandoval wants peace, he should give up all his money as Christ admonished... but he hates Christ too.
No, what he means, is throw more inconvenient babies & lives out the window, do not fight, and we shall be happier & richer, basicaly what the German Nazis said when prophecizing for the Jews.
Liberals are Politicaly Correct Nazis who want others to do the sacrifice for them while saying "we" should sacrifice.
All in all this is the same program of destruction communist false prophets have baited liberals into, and now liberal puritans are stuck and cannot admit that they are perverts who are baited by pseudopacific sexual pleasure entrapments of pedophile proportions (just look how the lawyers & the state exploits infidelity to their advantage) and rejecting of the Bible.
