Last week was an eventful one for San Francisco politicians on Fox News.
On Tuesday night, Supervisor Gerardo Sandoval was a guest on the Fox News program "Hannity and Colmes." Broadcasting live from San Francisco, Sean Hannity interviewed Sandoval about the ongoing controversy surrounding the USS Iowa.
As reported in this column last August, the Board of Supervisors voted 3-8 against docking the WWII-era Iowa as a floating museum at the Port of San Francisco. The decision was made despite the potential financial benefits to the city and the efforts of veterans groups, a Congressional delegation and Senator Dianne Feinstein to bring the Iowa to San Francisco.
Predictably, Sandoval defended the Board of Supervisors' decision and in the process, made a complete fool of himself. Not only did Sandoval stick to his pacifist principles by rejecting the icky display of WWII wartime heroism in the pristine San Francisco Bay, but he announced that the United States should have no military whatsoever. "The United States should not have a military," was how he put it.
When asked by an incredulous Hannity who would then protect the country, Sandoval responded that "the cops" and "the Coast Guard" could do the job. He must have forgotten that the police force is otherwise occupied and that the Coast Guard is part of the U.S. military he so abhors.
Even Hannity's liberal co-host Alan Colmes was aghast at Sandoval's bizarre proclamation and made sure to distance himself and (in his words) the Democratic Party from such fringe politics. Indeed, if there was anything Sandoval succeeded in doing with his appearance on Fox News, it was in exposing further how utterly out of touch San Francisco politics are with

Not that it would change Sandoval's mind but I thought the Coast Guard was part of homeland security now.
In fact....I haven't seen a positive ad for San Fran in years.
They ought to go to SF. It would set the city back millions in costs. The delegates could all stay outside SF and all the male "models" would be without many gigs.

Great idea. The GOP ** SHOULD ** come to San Francisco. The wing nuts would go insane, the gay police force would fail to control, the city would be scorched. Very amusing and it would give the rest of America a clear object lesson in what happens when you give the keys to government to the left.
Hard to see how it could help Hillary at all.

You'll find FAR more evidence of abuse by cops than by US military.
I suggest wearing a large body condom from head to toe when visiting the Homosexual Capital.

There are dozens of red state cities in which the GOP could hold their convention. Support those who support you...
absolutely!!! just ruminating
I'll be glad if the USS Iowa does NOT get to dock in San Francisco.....the LAST place I want to go to see the IOWA is in San Francisco.
This headline could be trimmed to read "San Francisco: An embarrassment"
I always enjoy when talk show hosts (like my favorite Michael Medved and Dennis Prager) don't argue with these people, but ask questions and let them talk. They self-destruct surely and thoroughly. Of course, they probably are so proud of themselves!
They make the job of a host look too easy, like shooting fish in a barrel...
