Stand Up for Denmark Rally
An update to Christopher Hitchens’ call for a rally at the Danish embassy in Washington DC:
Update, Feb. 22: Thank you all who’ve written. Please be outside the Embassy of Denmark, 3200 Whitehaven Street (off Massachusetts Avenue) between noon and 1 p.m. this Friday, Feb. 24. Quietness and calm are the necessities, plus cheerful conversation. Danish flags are good, or posters reading “Stand By Denmark” and any variation on this theme (such as “Buy Carlsberg/ Havarti/ Lego”) The response has been astonishing and I know that the Danes are appreciative. But they are an embassy and thus do not of course endorse or comment on any demonstration. Let us hope, however, to set a precedent for other cities and countries. Please pass on this message to friends and colleagues.

The Frogman himself has got banners for free download, in multiple languages to adorn your post/website/homepage etc.
I love that guy's website design. And who wouldn't love a pro-American, Jefferson loving Frenchman?

I'm so proud of you guys!!! Many of you know my dear friend Memphis Belle and I are longtime devotees of Christopher Hitchens, never more so than now. This gesture of friendship with Denmark is magnificent! Oh how I wish I could be there with you.
Someone should invite Malik Zippy Shazam. He was hilarious!
bump for publicity
I was confusing them with the Swedes - my mistake sorry for the confusion - I deserve the lashing.

Union Station in DC has a vendor that sells practically every flag made. If you come down, stop in, it is in the main mezzanine (sp), and no I don't have any monetary interest in it. LOL

Same here! Unfortunately, I live alllll the way on the other side of the country - and have a grand total of circa $15. :P That sure won't buy a plane ticket to DC. :^D
Oh well. Hope the rally goes well!

Is there any decent, nearby place to park in DC on a Friday workday? I suspect I would be prohibited from most street parking, at least if this thing lasted more than two hours. And chances are dicey that I'd find even one of those empty, or a space in a nearby garage, for that matter.
It takes a big person to admit promptly when there's been an error. Thank you, FRiend!!
Only thing I can think of is side streets, and you may have to walk a few blocks. But be sure and pay attention to "Embassy Only" parking restrictions on those side streets, as the area is lousy with embassies.
Looks like I'll be leaving early tomorrow! Thanks for the ping!
I got to #28 and was pleased at your honesty...we have all done similar stuff!
I decided to keep reading and there was Albion Wilde saying what I thought, better and faster!
Freeper regards to you both!
All residential area there...just keep driving around...I have always found a place.
Glad to hear you are going ...BUMP!
