The Tony Snow Show Thread, Wednesday, February 22, 2006
Fox Radio/Tony Snow | 2/22/2006 | Tony Snow

Tony Snow is back and better than ever!  Tony's guests and topics on today's Tony Snow Show include:

Sensible People Object
What does it mean when sensible politicians like Rep. Mike Pence (R-IN), Sen. Charles Grassley (R-IA), and Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK) object to the port deal? Tony takes a close look.

Bush Comes Down Hard
The President came out strong on the port issue, saying he would veto any legislation to block the port deal. The President's protected us before; should we trust him this time?

So What's Really Going On at the Ports?
Intrepid reporter Griff Jenkins went on a tour of the Port of Baltimore, one of the ports slated to have its operations transferred to Dubai Ports World, to find out exactly what goes on there.

You can find out more information about the line-up, stream Tony's show, find local radio stations as well as other fun stuff off his website.

CLICK HERE and follow the "Listen Live" link to stream the show which runs from 9 AM est to noon.

moongriffon.com streams the show every day from 3:00 to 6:00 PM (EDT).

WKRC airs Tony’s show on the web from 9-12 EST. Another way to hear Tony’s show is by streaming it at 7pm
CST on klif.com

Yet another source of the show is at 1190wamt.com which streams at least part of Tony’s show during its regular air time.

XM Channel 165 also airs the show for satellite radio subscribers.

You can also listen to Tony on WGTX  live, in color and on time.........HERE

To call the show and talk to Tony dial: 1.866.408.SNOW

And there's more!

Here's the deal: For those fans who would like to ask for a photo-- please send an email request to Tony at tonysnow@foxnews.com (please note in the subject line of the email "For Tony")  and provide your home mailing (not email) address. Tony will send you a real, actual, signed photo -- not stuff that people have to download. Please pass it on.

By the way, if you miss anything, the show is streamed again immediately after the three hours. Please feel free to add thread narrative about what is aired on the show as a group effort is helpful to get more of the content posted and is much appreciated by those reading the thread later.

If you’d like on or off the Tony Snow Show ping list, please post a request.
All requests happily honored.

"Woof" is used in broadcasting to say "stop," "that's enough" or to mark a specific point in time
-- which is what is done in this case. "Tony's show starts in 3 minutes: WOOF!" Means in 3 minutes from-- NOW!

Tony, YOU are a better spokesman for the Administration than the Administration. I know it would be a paycut for you to take the Press Secretary's job, but surely you know someone who could do better, don't you?

With the liability concerns, I don't think that there'll even be an American company who'll want to touch it. Not unless the company would be given immunity to legal liability, and I can't see the Dems and their trial lawyer buddies allowing that.

We should have been ahead of this on the PR war, but that doesn't make the decision wrong. I like what Bartlett is saying about doing educational briefings

That is one gripe I have always had with this administration...they are always on defense and playing catch-up....why can't they forsee the political firestorm on issues?....

"Tony had the facts and that is what he stuck with. Tony operates on a whole other plain, like Brit Hume."

Boy, you are right about that. Now I want to hear Tony interview all these Republican congressmen who are opposed to this deal. I think they've all gone off half-cocked.

While Bush has adamantly defended the deal, the White House acknowledged that he did not know about it until recently.

I'm sure that was true. Normally decisions to approve a private business deal -- even affecting National Security -- are handled by Inter-Agency cabinet level groups, and not taken directly to the President. I suspect he found out personally and then asked everyone to justify themselves. That's why he didn't say anything until yesterday until he had personally vetted it.

The question for me is WHO in the WH made this announcement? The press has been prating endlessly about how this WH is so secret, so who is it that talked to the press?

This caller has expressed the same major concern I have about slapping this ally in the face.

He also said..."tell you how BAD this has gotten, Dubai is sending lobbyists all over Washington to talk to us..I am having one visit me....if the White House was so secure in this...why they lobbyist's visits?"

He also said that they were told that Rummy was part of the group that approved this....but, when asked yesterday...Rummy said he didn't know what they were talking about.

NOW...my question....IF this was rubber-stamped...how much of that could have been because of Daschle and Albright??

I wonder if we will hear that dynamic duo speaking out about this.

If Swiss banks are or have been used by bin laden would it be time for a daisy cutter? If banks in the Cayman Islands are or have been used to launder bin laden money is it time for an invasion? I suspect there were banks in countries other than Dubai that were laundering bin laden money.

One more question. Why isn't it possible for an al queda operative to get a job on the docks even without this UAE company moving the cargo? I lied. I have another question. Since only a small percentage of cargo is checked, why isn't the port from which the cargo was sent just as much of a security concern? Based on all the scare monger scenarios perhaps we shouldn't accept cargo from any country that has a Muslim population of more than 12.

Because we need adult supervision in the Press Operation. My suspicion is that the good people that got us here, Torie Clarke, Karen Hughes, Ari Fliescher..are not there any more. On routine things it doesn't matter much, but to do a good job, we need to do better on this.

Maybe dealing with the dims and the WOT are TOO similar:

The WH has to be right on absolutely everything, and the other side only has to hit once.

>> [President Bush] just said he refuses to do business with Hamas because of their strong stand against recognizing Israel, but the UAE's hatred for Israel and their refusal to recognize their statehood is just hunky dory.<<

That's EXACTLY what I thought of this morning! What's up with that?!?!
