Tony Snow is back and better than ever! Tony's guests and topics on today's Tony Snow Show include:
Sensible People Object
What does it mean when sensible politicians like Rep. Mike Pence (R-IN), Sen. Charles Grassley (R-IA), and Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK) object to the port deal? Tony takes a close look.
Bush Comes Down Hard
The President came out strong on the port issue, saying he would veto any legislation to block the port deal. The President's protected us before; should we trust him this time?
So What's Really Going On at the Ports?
Intrepid reporter Griff Jenkins went on a tour of the Port of Baltimore, one of the ports slated to have its operations transferred to Dubai Ports World, to find out exactly what goes on there.

"Woof" is used in broadcasting to say "stop," "that's enough" or to mark a specific point in time
-- which is what is done in this case. "Tony's show starts in 3 minutes: WOOF!" Means in 3 minutes from-- NOW!
I will return to my sono mode.
Buckets in both hands. Hurry back.
I think so.
Tony gets it Rush is always on both sides of every issue so he is never wrong, now we need Sean to get it as well.
You know me, def, I couldn't be more thankful that GWB is in charge. My heart says to trust him, as he must know things he cannot tell us. My head AND the pit of my stomach remain uneasy about the port deal. I refuse to apologize for that or change my mind before I've heard something that makes me feel much better about it.
That said, I remain a BushBot who will never, ever stop praying for him and furthermore, regardless of where I come down on any issue, I will never stand for Bush bashing.
Because the Administration didn't see the Mac truck headed right for them. See Rich Galen's column on http://www.mullings.com . I fully admit that the Administration blew the PR on this. Dan Bartlett and Scott McClellan are nice guys, but Tony needs to call Andy Card, and say, look, we need someone like Ari Fleischer and Karen Hughes handling these things. The policy is right, but our lives would be a lot easier if it were better explained.
I am hearing Peter King on another show right now...and he just said that the committee did NOT investigate this at all...it was basically rubber stamped..
The talk show host said that she is furious that Bush has called us racists for not liking this deal...and Peter King is saying how awful it is that Bush is calling Hastert, Frist, and he "racists"...
HMMMMMMMMM...I haven't heard Tony yet...does this sound like the interview he did with Tony...
Aren't they all, in reality?
[Actually, a "silly" format might be a refreshing change.]
NO.
I'm back. My concern is that how many people are hearing the facts? We need a point person in the administration on this.
Promise me this, FOX; if I do ever have a talk show, please write in and make sure that it stays silly.
Worlds apart. Tony had the facts and that is what he stuck with. Tony operates on a whole other plain, like Brit Hume.
My biggest concern about how this has been handled is that we are angering the very people we already don't trust.
The public dialog on this is harming our one reasonably dependable ally in the Arab world.
And fence sitting for me doesn't even begin to describe it. I hear some points opposed and agree. I hear other points in favor and agree. Hopelessly deadlocked. LOL
I agree..and have been saying it for months. Scott McClellan is TOO nice...we definitely need a change. He makes the president look weak since he is the spokesman for the administration. Pleeeeeeeeeze get rid of him and put in a strong voice for the President, who can do smack-down on this White House press!
Rush mentioned this approvingly last week. Bartlett is saying the right things. I just hope it's not too little too late. We should have been ahead of this on the PR war, but that doesn't make the decision wrong. I like what Bartlett is saying about doing educational briefings. I wish they had started last week. The facts are, that if you miss a news cycle, the MSM will get with the DUmmies crucify you and "play on our fears". Hopefully they will rectify this. We do need to get Sean on board. I hope to talk to him this p.m.
But if there's a good reason for doing this on the QT, I can only think of one biggie: and that's that we know something about the other two companies and we don't want that knowledge to become common knowledge. Just a guess :)
Check out this AP article that says the president was unaware or port deal.
http://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1583434/posts
While Bush has adamantly defended the deal, the White House acknowledged that he did not know about it until recently.
"He became aware of it over the last several days," McClellan said. Asked if Bush did not know about it until it was a done deal, McClellan said, "That's correct."
