I am so frustrated with talk show hosts who bloviate without doing one nanoseconds worth of research. Tony has done a great job getting the facts on this issue while so many of the other hosts just take the Schumer/Savage line. How hard is it to see the democrats are using this for political purposes to appear tough on terror while the wormy republicans are capitulating out of fear of losing elections in November. What would be really nice is for the republicans to do their homework and get some stones and for the talk show hosts who just love to stir the pot for ratings to try getting the facts straight for a change.
And you know what? If this was BJC I would be more suspicious because of his track record with the Chinese. But, even though I don't always agree with George Bush, I do not believe he has some stupid ulterior motive that would allow the American public to be put in danger.

Like all global industries, the port operations industry has been consolidating over the years. The US dropped out of the shipping industry in the 70's because, as LibertyLee points out, there's not very much money in it. You'll notice the countries that have big port operations industries are small nations that want a global economic footprint.
The only other company that conceivably could absorb P&O, the British company, is the Singaporean company.
It's still the right thing to do anyway,lol.

You know the worst thing about this deal, regardless of whether one feels it's a good deal or a bad deal, is that we've angered the very people we're afraid of.
The PR campaign that rolled this out was missing and reports are that our UAE ally is angry at what they're hearing.
TWO of the "Toledo Three" are American citizens!! We can't trust Americans with our security. We must prevent Americans from taking control of our ports!!!!

I couldn't agree more. I was against it before I was for it...thanks to the facts from Tony! Would I wish it was someone else? Yes! Am I fine with it now? Not really but I'm not afraid of the things I didn't know before.
