Tony Snow is back and better than ever! Tony's guests and topics on today's Tony Snow Show include:
Sensible People Object
What does it mean when sensible politicians like Rep. Mike Pence (R-IN), Sen. Charles Grassley (R-IA), and Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK) object to the port deal? Tony takes a close look.
Bush Comes Down Hard
The President came out strong on the port issue, saying he would veto any legislation to block the port deal. The President's protected us before; should we trust him this time?
So What's Really Going On at the Ports?
Intrepid reporter Griff Jenkins went on a tour of the Port of Baltimore, one of the ports slated to have its operations transferred to Dubai Ports World, to find out exactly what goes on there.

"Woof" is used in broadcasting to say "stop," "that's enough" or to mark a specific point in time
-- which is what is done in this case. "Tony's show starts in 3 minutes: WOOF!" Means in 3 minutes from-- NOW!
You give Schumer far to much credit, the guy is not that smart.
The list of people in Congress that I respect has dwindled to a list I can put on a 3 X 5 card.
I will check in when I get back. Give Frist a good talking to, and add my name to your call!
I saw one post last night where Sen. Feinstein has proposed just that--that ALL US ports and their operations should be nationalized. What a disaster.
and now for something completely different

Why engage an ignorant Troll who substitutes facts for guilt by association "poetry"? Just let her go play in the traffic.
Thanks, mathluv! A picture is truly worth a thousand words
Can I get a music question to your "note" worthy guru?
hee-hee...that's very good!
I can't get anything this morning either.
You can as soon as I fix this &@)#$*@^ feed.

Chuckie is fighting Bush on this and is all of a sudden (when it suits him politically) concerned about Arabs operating some of our ports, but a few months ago he wasn't concerned about the ports, just with bashing Bush for the poor treatment of Arabs in Gitmo -
So he is concerned about the welfare of Arabs one month and a few months later doesn't want Arabs operating our ports - seems a bit of a hypocritical bigot to me.
What he said was "you're either with us or you're with the terrorists".
Please correct yourself Tony.
We are openly discussing the issue. The issue came up because the British company is getting out of the business and sold their business to DP World in Dubai. President Bush did NOT initiate this. It was a business deal. Some business deals, like when IBM buys a competitor have to be reviewed by the Justice Department. If there's a National Security implication the deal must be approved by a Committee of Principals from Treasury, State, Justice, Defense, Commerce and the National Security Advisor. If the Committee agrees, it goes to the President for a final decision. If the President agrees that it has been properly vetted, it is approved. Congress doesn't actually get involved. What I understand the critters are up to is special legislation to undo this one deal. So we're in this because business happens. It happens all the time every day. This one is important. But the Maritime business is very dynamic and changing. It's also global. And my personal knowledge tells me that our security is not touched at all. My belief is that the deal is important for foreign policy objectives of the United States.
That is not all the Dems are trying to do
Seem a typical Democrat to me.

Lobbying firms associated with ex-Democratic Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle and Madeleine Albright (Clintons Secretary of State) have been working (paid subscription only link) to secure approval of the purchase by Dubai. One would think that our leaders, even when out of office, would care more about their nation than their bank accounts. This hopefully will give impetus to a bill (drafted by Republican Congressman Mike Rogers of Michigan) working its slow way through Congress that would bar... |
