Don't forget Carter, he's on board with the President. Sorry, I can't support him on this one, something bizarre is going on when Bush plays the freaking race card over this...

I have heard that no US Company bid on this contract.
If this is true, How can anyone complain about the lack of US management control over these ports if no US company is willing to even bid on controlling authority?

And Carter is actually agreeing with the president, lol.
I think we need to all take a deep breath and take a close look at this deal before getting all hot under the collar. I think we also should look at the president's position in all of this, he needs the help from Arab countries in this fight against terrorists. What would happen to that cooperation if the message we send is that we're discriminating against this company?

I'm with McCain on this one. Let's get some facts first rather than take the Michael Savage shoot-from-the-hip approach absent of facts or brains.

My God, FReepers are backing Hillary and Schumer's position on this, and I'm backing McCain's?Harriet Miers, revisited. To be sure Chuckie and Shrill are only taking this position because it is anti-Bush, not because it's correct.

Dubai is an international city where capitalism is starting to flourish. the UAE military is VERY close to the USA military. I work for a company providing security and communications services for all the major transport hubs here in Dubai. The Dubai government is sparing no cost to upgrade their port facilities to USA anti-terrorist standards. I've been in Middle East for 6 years now---three different countries. Believe me, there are much bigger fish to fry than Dubai and the UAE.

My God, FReepers are backing Hillary and Schumer's position on this, and I'm backing McCain's? I'm not "backing Hillary or Schumer," I'm just not backing Bush on this. I don't need those morons to tell me something is terribly wrong with this. I can think for myself. Bush is dead wrong. Well.......maybe he won't be the one who ends up dead, but I fear for those who live in those port cities.
I wouldn't ask the fox to guard the hen house either, because I would NEVER be that foolish! I simply don't trust Muslims, and for good reason. They want to kill me, my family and yours. They want me to bow to Allah, but I will NEVER do that, because I will NEVER worship Satan!!
The End Times approach!
There's no doubt we are already living in the End Times!

I'm sorry I should be pissed or afraid but I just find this so fun to watch. The liberals are profiling, the conservatives are looking for impeachment. Tony Snow is defending, Rush is in the middle, HEWITT and HANNITY have jumped ship. . Malkin is ready to put Bush in an internment camp. This is like a good soap opera.

You know what's sad?
No one despises McCain more than me, maybe as much, but not more. But with this statement he earns a damn sight more respect than a number of conservatives including some on this forum.
I have no position on whether this should go through at this time. I do have a position that hysterics deserve no respect. And hysterics spouting heated rhetoric without rational analysis of the pros and cons, people that ignore G.W.B.'s record in the WOT as insignificant, are blind mice I will not follow.
They should be ashamed of themselves for their behavior, not their position against this port deal...provided they know what the hell they are talking about to begin with.
