I'm in a discussion with a lib who is making an issue out of Swann's spotty voting pattern. I made the comment that he seems to have a record similar to Edwards. He wants verification and I can't find a thing. My recollection is that Edwards either was not registered or voted rarely before he ran for the Senate.
ping. help needed
Prior to being elected to the United States Senate in 1998, John Edwards never served in public office. In fact, he wasnt even active in politics, never having worked on a political campaign or run for any elective office. Between 1991 and 1998, Edwards failed consistently to even exercise his most fundamental civic duty he voted in merely half of the elections in which he could have during that seven-year period. His justification? According to The New York Times, "[Edwards] says, he was too busy with his legal work."
This is from cfif.org
This is pretty stupid. There is nothing wrong with not voting in some elections. It could mean either that the race isn't close so it doesn't matter whether you vote, or that you find the two candidates of roughly equal merit so it doesn't matter whether you vote.
If someone NEVER voted, though, I would see that as a problem.
Thanks for the link. Where on that site is the Edwards info.? Thanks for your help.
Prior to running for the Senate, John Edwards was a Slip n Fall Lawyer of consummate skill. His forte was "Fetal Channeling," carrying junk science to a whole new level. Lynn Swann was a commentator for ABC sports - a true public servant. Nuff Said.
Just accuse him of hating blacks. Conversation over.
I am sure Ed Rendell voted at least once in every possible election.
ROFLMAO!!!
Thanks. Do you know of any place that shows the elections he did and did not vote in. I've checked NC and Wake Co. election sites to no avail.
Can't do that. He's a friend.
I recall that Edwards had the worst Senate attendance record in 2003/2004. He didn't even make important votes in the Senate.
gave it a shot but can't find anything.
Thanks for your efforts.
I think I read on a thread today that many of those missed votes were primaries. Doesn't seem that earth shattering to me.
In my argument with the lib, even primary votes matter.
Then your friend is just looking to put Swann down, and no amount of 'explanation' will help.
