Schumer is one of the sleaziest politicians I have ever met (yes, I talked with Chuckie for 10 minutes once).

He has the attitude, ethics, and accent of a Bronx used car salesman. He won his first campaign by whispering that his opponent would build low income housing for blacks in white neighborhoods. Most of his backing comes from the more unethical branch of the financial services industry (debt consolidators, penny stock kingpins, etc.).

In short, I wouldn't pee on him if he was on fire. Nor would I take seriously anything my former Senator had to say. Besides, listening to him and Savage talk would only be made worse by the addition of Susan Estrich.

BTW: I have no problem with the proposed action. Everything will be run OK so long as Sheik Makhtoum, who runs the most progressive state in the Middle East, and one with a truly free market, is in charge. They have done a wonderful job at the port in Dubai.

I didn't hear that show, but I believe it.... and this situation with the Cheney hunting accident brought out the worst of it. Reporters and reporterettes were demanding he resign or be impeached. They are of one mind and one goal. You got it... impeachment.

Dems DO want impeachment, but not as bad as you might think. Right now, DEMS want the nuts who give them money to THINK that election = impeachment. This is because they are broke, thanks to Howard Dean, and must do or say anything to get campaign cash. If Democrats thought that performing fellatio on a horse would guarantee them re-election, you would not find an available kneepad or spare carrot left on store shelves tomorrow.

Yes, same scenario both before and after this purchase.

It would be easy to do any number of terrorist attacks...now. Just what is on hand would do. That is why it is so important to know who is here now and what they are up to. Maybe the President should try and secretly monitor calls from known terrorists to people here in the United States? Just a thought...

Don't any of you people know how a container port works?

The port operator just manages the throughput of the facility. There is not neccesarrily a connection between the port operator and the ships that service that port.

The only "security" the port operator provides is to protect the freight against criminals . THEY DO NOT provide security for the country from the freight.

That job is done by US Customs.

NO ONE CAN REMOVE A CONTAINER FROM ANY US PORT WITHOUT US CUSTOMS APPROVAL

NO ONE CAN EVEN LOAD A CONTAINER ON A VESSEL IN A FOREIGN PORT IF THAT LOAD IS BOUND FOR THE US, OR WILL BE ON A SHIP THAT TRAVELS THROUGH THE US WITHOUT US CUSTOMS APPROVAL

There is absolutely nothing in addition to waht US Customs does that provides any sort of "security" to the country.

I can assure you, ports are not opening containers to peek inside.

A terrorists can just as easily ship weapons through a port with a US-based port operator as with a foreign one BECAUSE THE PORT OPERATOR DOESN'T CARE ONE BIT WHAT'S IN TEH CONTAINERS. All the port operator cares about is:

- is my yard not completely a mess
- are the truckers coming in authorized
- did US Customs and the Shipping Line that shipped the thing approve the release of the cargo.

That's it!

"Mike is not a fool, he may be too rough sometimes, but 90% of the time he is right."
I like Savage because he loves this country, not the cult of the personality as practiced by Clinton and Bush. I respect him because he is not always up Bush and Cheney's butt like Hannity and Limbaugh (and many who use this forum).

Yes, it is fine with me. The Chinese owning those companies wont prevent us from blowing them to hell if we need to, now will it?

I swear, if some of you knew how many foreign owned companies are right now operating in the U.S., you might lose your lunch! Or, how many ships under foreign registration enter ports in the U.S. every damn day?

We would never need to "blow them to hell" if they didn't control the canal in the first place.

Owning a company in the U.S. and entering our ports are NOT the same as controlling access into and out of our country. It's the fox guarding the hen-house.

Try Newsmax, New York Daily News, Baltimore Sun, the list goes on. I can't believe you know nothing about the sale and yet you have name called listeners of Savage and anyone who disagrees with this deal. Try to be mature in your posting and not insult people whose views differ from yours. If you have an issue with the words, Sale of Ports, take it up with the Newspapers dear and not with me.

RLOFLM blank O!

We can also have some solace in knowing that there are already heavy Republican donations pouring in much earlier as well as higher than expected.

Which means our base is getting concerned. I am sure we won't have many on the fence or out tending their lawns on election day either.

We have also gained a large number of moderate Dems after this latest Olympic circus. (courtesy of the MSM)

What a lot of people just don't understand is that when you have the military and financial power of the United States, you can control anything you want, whenever you want to.

I've only heard somewhat good things about UEA and their politics from research. I once met a woman who was stationed there with her military husband for several years, she said a lot of good things about the people and how they were treated. I know that's anecdotal. They have been a friend to the US considering their location. But your take on shumer is interesting.

It sounded like Schumer was starting to push for a billion dollar device to check for radiation at each port, or something like that.

Sc**bag Schumer does.

Yet he misrepresents what is going on. Then, the NY Times, Newsday and Reuters run with the disinformation. To complete the cycle you have people like Mike Savage, Peter King and Michelle Milkin who then feed it to the Bubba's.

What you get is people who can accurately answer your above question by saying, "no"....even here at FreeRepublic.

Or worse, a bushbot! pacelvi, thanks for that information. It's funny, I worked for a company that shipped lots of product in containers to Europe, but never realized that's all there is to it. I've learned a lot on the history channel about super transports to Amsterdam though.

Who let you out of your cage?

Now somebody is going to have to clean up after you because we know that you certainly won't cleanup after yourself.

Perhaps I am new to this forum but I had no idea that there were fanatics in here very much like the ones you find on the DUMMIES websites. How can anyone criticize DUMMIES and then turn around and act like one. I have seen some totally bezerk behavior because a number of us on this thread are Independent thinkers. We go with quality not party line. And while I would not want the DEMS in the White House, I've seen the Repubs do things that will put them in in 2006. Bush's deal with Dubai, his lack of support for our border guards, the Meiers affair. This is how you lose support for 2006. And I'm a former Dem. So better to hear it from me then to look stupid next year when the Dems gain control and you ask, "Gee, dahhh... I wonder how that happened?"
