Cheney cleared in hunting accident
White House faces questions about disclosing incident

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (CNN) -- Authorities have cleared Vice President Dick Cheney of wrongdoing in the Texas shooting of a hunting companion, while reporters aimed tough questions at White House officials about their delay in disclosing the accident.
During Tuesday's White House news conference, spokesman Scott McClellan was asked if waiting 14 hours after the shooting before Cheney spoke with police was appropriate, and whether an average citizen would have been afforded the same amount of time.
"That was what was arranged with the local law enforcement authorities," McClellan said. "You ought to ask them that question."
McClellan referred other questions about Cheney's shooting of campaign contributor Harry Whittington to the vice president's office and local police.

Mr. Whittington may die 20 years from now, but they will still attribute his "slow demise" to the "attempt on his life by Vice President Cheney."
ROTFLOL! You should send that to Letterman.
Excellent!
LOL!!
Actually a can of pepper spray would be my suggestion.
Some on this board don't seem to understand the different roles we all play in the advancement of conservatism. Many of us here are firebrands; I shouted and marched in the 2000 re-count fiasco down here in South Florida...but the role of WH Press Secretary is markedly different. Joe and Jane SixPack, who watch the news only occasionally or pay attention parenthetically to politics, don't want to see a "firebrand" up there.
Most people view the press the same way we do--pompous asses. If McLellan were to be hateful back, that would register poorly with the regular folk.
Patience is a virtue but I think I would have called that press conference to conclusion long before it was. Those reporters were acting like little children. I have never seen such ignorance and rudeness exhibited to the public. These reporters better grow up. No one needs to inform them of anything least of all the Vice President of the United States.
Frankly the WH should give the entire junk journalist crowd the boot and talk to ONLY to the News Media. Let the Junk Journalists try their crap with the Talk Show hosts and the bloggers. See how these losers like it if they lose access to the news makers. The Dinosaur Media NEEDS access, Conservatives have NO reason to talk to them. It is NOT like their coverage could get any more partisan or bigoted.
How many accidental deaths in american hospitals each year?
Holy crap, these reporters are stupid.
In other news, Iran has started enriching uranium for weapon production....

" "The chief deputy sheriff for Kenedy County, Gilbert San Miguel, said the investigation into the shooting had not yet been completed, but that alcohol had not been a contributing factor and that the incident was being treated as a hunting accident."
Maybe you should do more reading instead of shooting your mouth off at me. You sound angry. "
No, I'm not angry. Why would I be? Or anyway why would I be mad at YOU? We're all good conservative Republicans here, aren't we?
What you said, in the post I was responding to, was:
""did anyone hear him say that Cheney and the others were drinking (alcohol) at the time? Well we here on FR know that's not true,"
I had read the statement you quoted from the deputy sheriff. He said "alcohol was not a CONTRIBUTING factor." The sheriff didn't say that "nobody was drinking at the time." Those are two different things.
They could easily have had a drink or even two, without that being a "CONTRIBUTING" factor to the unfortunate incident. Unless you think that if they did have a drink it automatically means that was the reason Whittington got shot.
My point was, I honestly don't think we can yet say we "KNOW" much at all.
For that matter, how much coverage has the oil-for-food scandal gotten compared to this? I swear, the corporate officers of every media outlet in the country, including Fox, should be in prison for sedition and treason.
HAH! I'll bet the DUmmies are going apoplectic over this one.
As for the White House Press Corps, I'm beginning to think that the main requirement for membership is that you must be a card-carrying moron.
Excellent list! It's funny because it's true.
Where's my saw?
