HOW 'ANGER' WOUNDS HILL (Dick Morris: GOP ATTACK COULD BE CRIPPLING)

THE most effective at tacks in politics are those that stop your opponent from campaigning in his or her usual style. When Democrats called Richard Nixon "negative" in the runup to the 1960 presidential, it made it much more difficult for him to wage the type of slash-and-burn campaign that had animated his past races. When Republicans called Bill Clinton a "flip-flopper" during his first term, it made it harder for him to reach out to all constituencies and reach across ideological barriers as he instinctually always wanted to do.
Now, Ken Mehlman, the chairman of the Republican National Committee, has pinned the "angry" moniker on Hillary Clinton a label that will increasingly stop her from venting her partisanship as she must to get nominated.
The genius of the Mehlman charge (doubtless drawn from focus group or survey research) is that it rings so true among those who follow Sen. Clinton closely that it seems self-evident.
When Hillary denounces the deficit or wiretapping or drug prices or the administration's inaction on global climate change, she sounds, looks, and acts angry. And the reason is that she is angry.
Hillary takes her political positions very seriously and personally. She has a hard time seeing virtue in those who disagree with her. What others would dismiss as honest disagreements about how to accomplish good ends, she often looks at as a clash between good and evil, selflessness and selfishness, generosity and greed. (She once asked how someone could "be a Republican and a Christian at the same time.")
In her speeches and interviews, she has two speeds: bland and shrill.

What is the Senator's base (for a presidential run) anymore? Moonbats ala Sheehan won't vote for her, and moderates probably don't care for her too much (angry, shrill, etc...). And we know where conservatives stand.

She once asked how someone could "be a Republican and a Christian at the same time..You know, Senator Clinton... that's a valid question. You need to repeat that question in every interview you have from now on.

This is an article about the obvious. Many of us on FR have been saying this about Hillary Clinton for a very long time.

Did you see her at Coretta King's funeral? It was obvious she had been coached to NOT sound shrill or angry; man, she sounded D E A D.
Her problem is that she's not a sincere person and it comes across big time.

"This is an article about the obvious." So she will play to the non-obvious. If she suddenly appears pleasant and likable to independent voters, then that will make us look mean, judgemental, and wrong about her. Surely that's a part of her plan.

Every OTHER piece that Little Dick writes talks about how the rat is finished. If he would just stick to that theme he would make sense but for some strange reason this fool thinks people believe him when he changes hats every other day. In between he writes stupid crap like how the rat will take back the congress in November.
As I do almost every time Little Dick talks stupid crap, I'll now recount Little Dick's take on a poll in the NYC mayor's race just weeks before the election. Here goes:
The poll showed that Bloomberg was up 14 at 52/38 with the rest "undecided" Little Dick said ( presumably with a straight face) that this clearly meant Bloomberg was in trouble. He actually said Freddy Ferrer, the Democrat, would be carried to victory be this Hispanic supporters because THEY were the undecideds and ALL of them would vote Democrat. It never occurred to Little Dick that they said "undecided" because they were embarrassed to say Bloomberg. Bloomberg won by 20 points.
