Rep. Tom Tancredo (R.-Colo.) didnt hold back in his criticism of President Bush this morning at the Conservative Political Action Conferencedelivering what amounted to a presidential stump speech that could have easily been delivered in New Hampshire or Iowa.
Tancredo attacked the administration for its support of a guest-worker program for illegal aliens and its big-spending ways on education and Medicare prescription drugs.
It is the President who is out of step with his party, not Tom Tancredo, the Colorado Republican said to applause at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Northwest Washington, D.C.
Tancredo called for the repeal of two programs offered by President Bush: the No Child Left Behind Act and the Medicare prescription drug program. Both expanded the cost of government and drew the scorn of conservatives in Congress.
Tancredo said the Big Government policies of the Bush administration need to be halted. He said conservatives must return the GOP to a party of individual rights and shouldnt afraid to say it.
Are you honestly complaining about ad hominem attacks? You?
Bwahahahaha!
Yeah, simple ...
It's not that you are calling me on my "clueless statements"....
It's that your rhetoric is so VERY predictable.
"What did Ronald Reagan think of amnesty?"
Why not tell us?
He signed an immigration bill he really didn't want in 1986 tantamount to the one Bush wants now and it the bill didn't work. Bush hasn't learned from the past.
I think it was generally understood that his promise was made in the context of others making similar promises. When everyone else around him starts breaking those promises themselves, that changes the context immensely. If you made the promise thinking your enemies would do the same, and they pull the rug out from under you saying "Sucker!", what do you owe them at that point?
-- inquest, on why Tom Tancredo broke his term limits pledge.
However, as you can tell if you read the thread, Reagan Man is of the opinion that I think President Bush walks on water.
As far as Reagan Man is concerned, if you are a supporter of the President, you are a syciphant.
And all but a few dittoheads on this board know that he's talking out his blowhole when he says that. His actual proposals tell a very different story.
Are you saying the President is lying? I just want to make sure I understand you correctly.
Is JD the one who was caught in the Abramoff mess? I think so, but I honestly can't remember. I remember looking up his district and being surprised, because two of the others who got a lot of money from Abramoff were Senators with huge Indian populations and then there was Ney and Reid and an AZ Congressman who had no reservations in his district. Is he the guy?
To put it more accuartely, I called him on his vapid responses in both cases.
"It's that your rhetoric is so VERY predictable."
It is the other way around. Tancredo, his 91-member house immigration reform caucus (87 republicans and 4 democrats) and like-minded members in the more conservative house of representatives are stopping Bush's amnesty plan.
And gave me a BIG belly laugh each time
And $40.....
LOL
That's fine.
That's great.
Still doesn't make Tancredo a viable Presidential candidate, which is STILL the crux of my arguement.
He is still UNELECTABLE.
Three, it doesn't matter, Tancredo doesn't get a vote on judges any more than I do. And I can tell you that I didn't issue a press release.
What has Tancredo done, besides update his website?
It's no secret that we have "close associates" who literally hate our President and are of a mind to impeach him for any pretense.
The immigration thing is their cause celebre and just about every caring American is extremely upset that our Prez has vacillated on this whole thing. It is Bush's Achilles heal...and no one supports him so far.
The difference is that men of rational minds don't slay their leaders. Our "rinos" would be all too happy to do just that.
That earns them some understandable disdain from some quarters. I try to conceal my disappointment with their "temporary blindness" by chiding them.
Certain self-important watchers of conduct with no patience for good-natured ribbing seriously do not approve and have said so. I sure hope youre not one more of these old ogres.
Maybe they didn't feel betrayed because they truly didn't feel betrayed. But that of course would mean acknowledging that they have minds of their own. And if you deny that, what does that say about any of our politicians, including the one way at the top?
"Disrupt" what? The complacency and drifting left (amidst owning both Houses and the Presidency), while pandering and compromising waaay too much on traditional conservative principle?
And with what do you disagree with Tancredo?? Pork? Immigration? Borders? Fiscal over-spending?
The GOP is in need of a re-charge and fresh blood like Coburn and Tancredo.
Opinion polls are nothing. The rubber hits the road in November, as it does every two years.
