This is an excellent choice, IMHO. Wallace is probably more conservative than Pickering whom he will replace.

He still has three vacancies to fill in the D.C. circuit court of appeals, and only one nominee so far (guy blocked in senate for ages). That's the most important appeals court, where supreme court justices often come from.

Wallace worked for CJ Rehnquist and then was hired by Sen Lott to help out with the impeachment of Bill Clinton. That sounds very promising.

Brett Kavanaugh. First nominated on July 25, 2003, he was the only pending nomination returned to the President when the Senate recessed at the end of December, 2005. He was renominated by the President on January 25. Hillary! Clinton is thought to be behind the return.

Kavanaugh has earmarks of being a crony pick, and was involved in the Vince Foster aspect of Ken Starr's investigations into the Clintons. Reid has expressed a desire to filibuster the Kavanaugh nomination, too.

Michael B. Wallace is a partner in the Jackson, Mississippi, office of Phelps Dunbar. His practice is concentrated in commercial and constitutional litigation, with special emphasis on appeals in both the state and federal systems. Mr. Wallace served as a law clerk to Justice Harry G. Walker of the Supreme Court of Mississippi and to Justice William H. Rehnquist of the United States Supreme Court. After practicing law in Biloxi, he served as counsel to Representative Trent Lott. He was chairman of the Legal Services Corporation under Presidents Reagan and Bush and served for ten years as a member of the Administrative Conference of the United States. He served as Special Counsel to Senator Lott for the impeachment trial of President Clinton, and he represents the Mississippi Republican Party in the ongoing Congressional redistricting litigation. Mr. Wallace received his B.A. in government from Harvard and his J.D. from the University of Virginia, where he served on the law review.

Lots more at the link ...

Mike is a partner in the general litigation group in the Jackson office. He was admitted to the Mississippi Bar in 1976. In 1999, he served as Special Impeachment Counsel to Senate Majority Leader Lott for the impeachment trial of President Clinton. His practice is concentrated in commercial litigation at the trial and appellate levels. He also has wide experience in litigating constitutional claims and election disputes. Prior to joining Phelps Dunbar, Mike served as a law clerk to Justice Harry G. Walker, Supreme Court of Mississippi, from 1976-1977, and to Associate Justice William H. Rehnquist, Supreme Court of the United States, from 1977-1978. From 1980-1983 he served as counsel to Trent Lott, who was then Republican Whip of the United States House of Representatives. He is general counsel of the Mississippi Republican Party.

Secured reversal of an eminent domain judgment which had temporarily seized possession of a historic hotel in downtown Jackson. Morley v. Jackson Redevelopment Authority, 632 So.2d 1284 (Miss. 1994).

A former Lott aide? I'd say that means we can expect a reliable conservative. Glad to see the White House making solid choices.

"Wallace worked for CJ Rehnquist and then was hired by Sen Lott to help out with the impeachment of Bill Clinton. That sounds very promising."

BUT......Sen.Lott broke every promise a conservative should have(from what i hear)....property rights mean nothing to him. He presided over the largest confiscation of property for corporate giants this country has ever known. ???? I know people that had property in the 'zone' who sold their land for pennies 4 years before the deal became public. Speculators were hovering about and went in under the cover of darkness.
I know people who had their land TAKEN from them by the state after the deal became public and the state sold the land to burger franchises...Don't get me started....

MISSISSIPPI needs to get rid of LOTT and every single person associated with him.
sorry for the rant..but as a native Mississippi girl, I have every right to rant. There are 'speculators' hovering over my land right now..which has been in my family for over 150 years. I will be damned if they steal it from underneath me for some corporate giant or saudi prince looking for 'investment property'......whew..i am uptight tonight..sorry for the rant

Yes he is, and IMHO this is the most important thing that will save this great Nation. I could care less about the Budget, because it's numbers on paper that mean little to me, because our nat'l debt is something that our competitors are eager to finance because they rely on the largest consumer in the world for their own economies.

Steering the Supreme Court to the Right is the most important thing to me, because those 9 Judges have done a huge amount of damage to our Constitution over the past 30 years, and its about time changes to our Constitution is left up to the voters of each State in the normal Amendment Process, than 9 Justices who have drifted far beyond what our Founders intended their powers should be

I don't think Wallace fits all of those ;-) His expertise is as an appellate lawyer, and my first impression is that his particular specialy is election (redistricting) law. He has not been a judge in any capacity, that I have found, but he has served as a mediator.

He's donated a couple grand (at least) to the GWB campaign(s), and is openly touted on a website dedicated to "find a Republican lawyer."
