Standing up for a free press, President Bush appealed to Muslims to stop inciting violence over depictions of the one they worship.
He met with Jordan's King Abdullah in the Oval Office today.
Bush spoke to the Business and Industry Association of New Hampshire in Manchester, and today signed the Deficit Reduction Act of 2005 (don't understand the 2005 title, just quoting it from Yahoo).
Defense Secretary and top military brass testified before the House Armed Services Committee hearing on the Fiscal Year 2007 budget.
Laura Bush and daughter Barbara departed for four days in Italy to meet with Pope Benedict XVI, Italy's Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi in Rome, and U.S. troops before attending the Olympics in Turin (aka Torino).

QUOTE: (Regarding King Abdullah) "I have made it clear to His Majesty and he made it clear to me that we reject violence as a way to express discontent with what may be printed in a free press. I call upon the governments around the world to stop the violence, to be respectful, to protect property, protect the lives of innocent diplomats who are serving their countries overseas."

I highly recommend Fred Barnes'
Rebel-in-Chief to all Dosers. It's the best view of Bush I've seen. Barnes writes extremely well, and edits better than many. In other words, I am breezing through the book because it is so well written, and with Barnes' institutional memory of DC, he is able to draw parallels and opposites to other presidencies, and show how bold a leader Bush is.

I don't understand the why's and wherefore's of the bill's name but I am quoting it from Yahoo!

Rice leans on President Bush's chair in the Oval Office today.
Fred Barnes, in Rebel-in-Chief, said Rice is like a sister to the president. I wonder how Condi felt about the liberals' behavior at Coretta King's funeral yesterday .....

Rice at King's funeral yesterday

Interesting ... "Glenn Close, left, and David Shaw, arrive at the State Department for a dinner hosted by Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice in this Dec. 3, 2005, file photo in Washington. Close and Shaw, who is founder and former CEO of Idexx, were married Friday, Feb. 3, 2006 ... ."
