NEW YORK - The Republican national chairman created a furor this week when he suggested Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton is too "angry" to win the White House in 2008. And to hear Republicans tell it, Clinton is just one of many Democrats with an anger management problem.

In recent months, GOP operatives and officeholders have cast the Democrats as the anger party, long on emotion and short on ideas. Analysts say the strategy has been effective, trivializing Democrats' differences with the GOP as temperamental rather than substantive.
"Angry people are not nice people. They are people to stay away from. They explode now and then," said George Lakoff, a linguistics professor at the University of California at Berkeley. His book "Don't Think of an Elephant" has become something of a Bible for Democrats trying to improve their communication with voters.
Political history is dotted with failed presidential candidates perceived by the voters as too angry - think of Howard Dean's famous scream in 2004, or Bob Dole admonishing George H.W. Bush in 1988 to "stop lying about my record." Both parties' most revered figures in recent years, Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton, projected optimism and hope.
The latest example of the anger strategy came Sunday, when Republican National Committee chairman Ken Mehlman said on ABC that Clinton "seems to have a lot of anger." He cited comments she made in Harlem on Martin Luther King Day in which she likened the Republican-led House to a "plantation" and called the Bush administration "one of the worst" in history.

Some Democrats, in fact, complained that Clinton doesn't get angry enough. Some also denounced Mehlman as mean-spirited, and smelled more than a whiff of sexism in his remarks.
"It's the stereotype of the crone - angry, nasty, but powerful," Lakoff said.

Brilliant move. The first real good counter attack I've seen since nailing Kerry as a flip flopper.
She isn't angry so much as just plain bitchy. And no one likes a woman who is a bitch.
Democrats are so *angry* that they can't go to a solemn funeral without attacking Republicans (e.g. Senator Wellstone, Rosa Parks, Coretta Scott King, etc.).
They live and breathe in reactionary anger.
...but apparently they are only mad about being out of power (they're down to a mere 18 Blue States now, and Wisconsin is already threatening to leave that lonely pack even now).
**Clinton is just one of many Democrats with an anger management problem.**
Especially toward Willie! LOL! <sarcasm off
Roll the film - there's plenty of it to go around from the Roberts confirmation, Alito's confirmation to the Funerals of Wellstone and King, the hearing and barrage against AG Alberto Gonzales and the senate floor hearings! Democrats ARE angry, sore LOSERS and worse, they are TRAITORS like SEnators Rockefellar, Durbin and Wyden!
Opps, that was "Greed is good!"
Damn that Gordon Gekko...
Hillary doesn't have the smarts to get angry! She just does and says whatever Billyboy tells her to say.... She's hust another mediocre puppet....
People don't mind seeing anger, when that anger is reasonable and controlled and used to appropiately advance a cause or a plan. What they don't like to see is a bunch of unhinged, lunatic ranting and raving and wild-eyed conspiracy crap delivered at full volume by a strutting demagogue.
And that's why I've never seen her as much of a threat to win the Presidency. She is simply a detestable, revolting person whose every word and deed screams "PHONY" from a mile away. Just like John Kerry. The American people do not elect people they don't like to be their President.
That's one of the funnier one's I've seen in a while.
Hillary is angry, she is calculating, profane, and self-absorbed and self-important.
Very nice first-hand account.
Hillary seems to me to be a very strange woman. From what I've seen of her (very little, to be sure) she seems to have to go to great effort to simulate the behavior and response of a normal human being. Only very rarely does she allow herself to be imaged under other than extremely carefully controlled circumstances. On those rare occaisions in which she looses control of her immediate environment, she often says strange, awkward things. Not to mention her odd facial expressions which, to my way of thinking, betray something very troubling deep inside her.
Ten or twenty years ago, when the MSM was able to shape and control public perception, she would have been a real threat. But with every passing year, the new media grows stronger, and Hillary's chances wane.
(steely)
Let her get angry. Let her scream like a fishwife.
It's very unbecoming. Look where it got Dean... .
If we keeping teasing the Democ. they will become more angry like a bunch of dogs.
Sheesh...the one who must not be named...even her smile gives me the creeps, makes my skin crawl. I think Alien looks better.
They do not like having their cages rattled, for sure.
"Some also denounced Mehlman as mean-spirited, and smelled more than a whiff of sexism in his remarks. "
Oh, please! Sexism? All rats have anger problems. You can tell because they do nothing but throw temper tantrums.
Hillary is not sincere. She does not believe what she says, she says what she thinks you want to hear.
Wow! They are simply terrible people. The idea of the Clintons back in charge is just scary. I'd have to join Butch and Sundance in Bolivia.
