BOLIGEE, Ala. Fires damaged or destroyed four more Baptist churches across the Alabama countryside Tuesday, less than a week after a string of five blazes that were ruled arson.
Church member Johnny Archibald said smoke was pouring from Morning Star Baptist in Boligee when he arrived around daybreak.
"They had kicked the door in," he said. "Evidently they had set the pulpit on fire and went out the front door."
Tuesday's fires took place at churches off rural roads, about 10 to 20 miles apart. They were in a cluster of three counties, about 60 miles from the Bibb County area where the five other churches were burned early Friday.
FBI acting assistant director Chip Burrus said investigators were working on the assumption that the nine fires are linked.

You haven't spent much time here, have you?
Agree with you on the lack of money for cameras. These churches are not the sophisticated metro churches. These churches are down home worship. No entertainment to lure youth either. Although some do offer far away mission trips. Nothing against these far away mission trips, because they are necessary. However, I tell my kids everyday life is a mission opportunity.
And 4AM sounds like a good time of day for satan worship.
One of the churches from last week was south of Centerville, then off the main hwy about a mile. Again, you would have to be looking for that church to find it.
The exact words of the state official I spoke with last Friday night who had been on the Bibb County seen that day. Interesting.
I was beginning to wonder if I was here by myself. As I was reading through the thread and got to the end, it looked like I was talking to myself. LOL
You have to understand they have all that tax money they need to spend "protecting" us.
Just a gut feeling.
OK could be true, or just some crazies.
bttt
I take it you've never actually been to the rural south.
I live in Orlando. That puts me in the middle of it. This is doable. They can watch them.
If only black churches were burned, then the MSM would focus on it and call it a racist, hate crime. However, since only Christian, Baptist churches with both black and white congregations were burned, the MSM doesn't see a hate crime. How about one of the Liberal anti christian, no nativity scene types could be doing this, ya think. If so, do you think we will ever see this in the news?
That puts you in the middle of the urban south. A small rural county might have over 100 churches lining its back roads.
Hmm--
Just heard on Fox--they think the SUV of interest has Ohio plates.
Great minds ...... :-D
You don't think the government could monitor a hundred churches if that's what it took. Since they are burning 4 a night, just monitoring 25 would give you a pretty good chance of catching them.
No, some of those rural counties might have 3 or 4 deputies out on patrol for the entire county at night. Those folks would be covering the normal domestic calls, equipment thefts, cattle rustling, drunk drivers, etc. It would be sheer blind luck if one of them was near an arson scene when the crime was committed.
And which churches would you watch? The first batch were white, so odds are you'd have been watching white churches when the black ones burned. They've all been Baptist, so odds are to watch Baptist churches, but the next batch might be Nazarine, or AME or CME or AME Zion.
