Thirteen more votes may be illegal Senate Republican gets data on Dist. 29 from private eye
By Marc Perrusquia Contact February 7, 2006
Days after a federal judge put up a roadblock, Senate Republicans are moving forward to void the Dist. 29 election -- armed this time with new allegations of 13 illegal votes.
Senate majority leader Ron Ramsey, R-Blountville, said Monday he's received details compiled by a private investigator on 13 people who don't live in the district but voted in the election won by Ophelia Ford.
One of the 13 is Ford's nephew.
The 13 votes being scrutinized don't include several already deemed illegal by a Senate committee, including four cast by felons and two in the name of dead voters.
Weighing voting-irregularity allegations by Republican Terry Roland, who lost to Ford, a Democrat -- by just 13 votes -- the Senate voted last month to void the election.
But before the Senate took a final vote, U.S. District Court Judge Bernice Donald ruled senators must take care not to invalidate ballots without first giving voters an opportunity to be heard.
Not racism.
Racism is assuming ANY democrat elected official is (1) black, (2) corrupt (3) democratic (4) hypocritical.
Many hypocritical, democrat, elected democrat officials are not (1) black.
ALL are (2) corrupt (3) democratic and (4) hypocritical.
You assume way too much to be demanding an apology. Perhaps it is you who needs to clarify your remarks. Are you demanding someone be banned based purely on what you assume?
FR is also not a place where you go off on someone based on what you assume they mean.
I know people are leaving, but I am still amazed that houses in mid-town still bring between $200,000 to $1,000,000. Looked at a cracker box last Saturday on busy North Parkway that was going for $245,000.
I'm still trying to figure out how a judge stopped the senate from removing her.
"Get a rope" is also the punch line in the Pace Picante Sauce commercials. It means instant justice for the offender. It has nothing to do with lynching a black person.
"U.S. District Court Judge Bernice Donald ruled senators must take care not to invalidate ballots without first giving voters an opportunity to be heard."
Might be a little hard to do with the DEAD voters, Judge!
Yeah, kind of like Queen Latifa...
The criminal Ford crime family must be stopped.
Well - some of those older houses are pretty nice. Even the "cracker-boxes" are better constructed than most contemporary houses, including mine...
I know what you're saying, though. It's funny how some pockets in Memphis are holding their value, while others are going to pot. Walnut Grove, Central Gardens, most of the area along Quince east of White Station isn't too bad, either. There are several others, too, I guess.
Ophelia alleged that removing her would be "racism" and "disenfranchizing the voters" and violate their 14th Amendment rights. Also, the judge is a family friend of the Fords and was selected by Harold Ford Sr. (Ophelia's brother) and nominated by Clinton. If she had an ounce of decency she would recuse herself for conflict of interest. But since she is an activist 'Rat judge, there is nothing short of a heart attack that would cause her to do so.
" If she had an ounce of decency "
that's always a big IF when it comes to dealing with this party.
Right now, somewhere deep in the heart of the NY Times, somebody is reading FR to 'prove' that we really are the evil, racist, homophobic devils that they already believe that we are. "Get a rope" is a prima facia case in the public domain. Trent Lott lost his job over something about ten times harder to misinterpret than this. I just don't want anybody here stepping into the trap by making an off-handed comment which is going to sound like an invitation to commit a crime. And with that being said, I'd love to get Harold Ford so muddied by the corruption in his family that he never gets the chance to take over Bill Frists Senate seat.
Decency is as far afield from the Fords and their hacks as Mercury is from Pluto.
I feel sorry for the kid, he probably got razzed up to wazoo growing up for that name... Well, it should've been for being a Ford, not the "Sir Isaac" part. ;-)
My in-laws live on West Drive just east of Rhodes. Homes in their neighborhood built in the twenties and teens regularily go for as high as $500,000. From their living room window they can see Jackson Avenue, homes there go for far less.
1. In 1966, maybe, but not in 2006.
2. Since the article never even hinted at the fact that these guys are black (assuming they even are), most "innocent bystanders" wouldn't even have known the difference.
Like I said - I still don't see how a judge (in their right mind) could do that. :-)
I saw Ophelia on TV a couple of weeks ago talking about racism. There isn't an ounce of decency in a single Ford. Even Jr. said those questionable ballots were probably planted by a Republican.
That's pretty wild. Just once, I'd like to be on the winning end of a situation like that....
