HAMBURG - German prison authorities said Tuesday they had been ordered by judges to free Mounir al-Motassadeq, the only person ever convicted of a role in the September 11, 2001 attacks on New York and Washington. The ruling from the German high court in Karlsruhe has not been made public yet. The Moroccan was serving a seven-year prison term after being convicted of membership in the Hamburg terrorist cell that provided three pilots for the hijacks and suicide attacks.
WTF
Any details?
Apparently we didn't hang enough of our enemies at Nuremburg.
OVER!
I just don't see any way we are going to win the war against terrorists. We don't have the committmemt or resolve that is necessary to win a protracted conflict. The West suffers from mass attention deficit disorder.
I predict a "hit and run" accident.
Go Langley!
Don't tell me. A week from now, the german that was recently kidnapped in Iraq will be released.
haha... what morons. I wonder what that judge is going to have to say if something like in Madrid happens in Germany.... but he was not a bad guy... he was just missunderstood.
I tell you what I understand about terrorists:
I understand you're bad bunnies! (quote from Veggie tales)
Well,
Terrorists that were involved in the TWA hijacking and murder of people (Who's body they threw out of the plane onto a tarmac) is free too. He served 18 years or something like that. "MOST" RAF terrorists are free today.
There are anti-US undertones in Germany, but that has NOTHING to do with this. If you ever deal with the Germans you'll realize that as a society they are what American liberlas aspire to be!
They are a ultra-liberal society that is secular, socialist, nihilist and and and. The RAF killed Germans too! A cannibal who killed and then ate another human in Rothenberg got 8.5 years!
What O'Reily freaks out about (Judge Cashman giving a child pedophile a 60 day sentence) is standard operating procedure. It's not unusual for a first time convicted rapist to get NO prison time what so ever.
There are US servicemen who are in prison there that will not be handed over by them because we wont make guarantees about sentencing (No death basically). Point is that some of these people committed crimes against Germans! So is this a act of them sympathizing with the enemy? Is it them hating the US? No, rather just the whole outlook on a justice system, crime and punishment.
Its not that they sympathize with the terrorists, but rather that they are just ultra-liberal.
He looks familiar. Who is that?
First, it is two Germans who are kidnapped, and second, this release was due to a decision of the German Constitutional Court (our highest court). Motassadeq´s trial is still going on before a federal court, but keeping him in prison is not "adequate", because he behaved well under the conditions set by the court. So, he is not free in the sense like you and I are free. He has to report to the police every day or so and is not allowed to leave the city of Hamburg. Oh, and Russ, I agree with you. In London, an Islamist was sentenced to 7 years for hate speeches... the German "justice" system is sick.
Is this the guy they didn't have enough evidence on because Bush wouldn't give it to them?
The Germans will give over people to us according to our extradition and SOFA (for US troops) treaties, only as a condition of the handover we have to promise not to seek the death penalty.
Meanwhile the middle east is accusing them of crimes against Islam.
Why Mr. Chapel, of course!
