Unemployment Falls to 4.7%
January +193,000 Jobs
December +140,000 Jobs - A 32,000 Upward Revision
"Employment in service-producing industries, which include retailers, banks and government agencies, rose 135,000 last month after rising 131,000 in December, the report showed. The increase was led by education and health services.
Warm weather helped builders in January, and the economy added 46,000 construction jobs after a 5,000 gain in December. Last month was the warmest January in 112 years, according to Weather Trends International, a Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania- based weather consulting firm.
Manufacturers added 7,000 jobs last month, after cutting 1,000 positions in December. The manufacturing workweek held at 40.8 hours for a third month and overtime held at 4.5 hours."

Not rain on the back-patting, but I hardly see education, service and government as cause to cheer. More non-productive weight. Maybe we can export some bureaucrats to China this time.
That is incorrect. If you are actively looking for a job even after your unemployment benefits run out you are counted as unemployed by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. How the Government Measures Unemployment. If, on the other hand, you are neither working nor looking for a job you are not considered part of the labor force. The government surveys 60,000 households each month to get their statistics.
Let me guess, airline industry?
Hi, I'm Tim Kaine. "The Democrats have a better way on jobs." Whenever, I'm lying, my left eyebrow twitches up and down!
Most excellent news.
F*** the forecasters. They never get their predictions right and they get paid all this money to come up with wrong analysis! Forecasters are a big problem in our free market economy and they are the one who are way overrating the oil crisis and hence driving the price of a barrel of oil at least $ 15 dollar more than its real value. They are bunch of overblown arrogant buffoons and they must be dealt with.
Sorry Dems. I guess tax cuts DO work!
'I have been unemployed for 1 1/2 years'
You're not a muslim airline pilot by any chance are you? ;-)

687000 new jobs in three months! That is very good.
What did you do in your previous place of employment and in what region of the U.S. did you work?
We could add 50 million jobs in one month and the MSM would still find some expert who predicted we should have added 60 million jobs.
I have to laugh when the Dems keep using Herbert Hoover. Talk about an old play book!!
Actually, you just need to get out of the Blue State that you're in. (PA)
The job market is booming down here in the business-friendly, low-tax, common-sense South. Here in Texas, there's lots of jobs open.
Oops.... that should have read "oct-nov was revised upwward by 49k)... they did revise september and october downward, though.. had that right... but I've never seen them revise numbers this far after the fact before...
You may need to retrain for a new career -- yep, it's tough, but can be done.
Bush' fault.
BTW, my college econ prof in the 80s told us that 6 percent unemployment was the "theoretical full employment" because of people being in between jobs and moving in and out of the workplace.
So being 1.3 percent BELOW full employment is not bad.
Its a damn good thing payrolls didn't come in at +250k.
A few months of that and Bernanke might start taking 50 basis points a shot. They say he is a stickler, and will have strict inflation targets.
