A group of beauty school students who beat a would-be robber with a table leg, curling irons and blow dryers is now asking the judge to go easy on their victim. Jared Gipson will be sentenced March 1 for robbing Blalock's Beauty College in Shreveport. Depending on whether he's considered an habitual offender, he could get up to 203 years in prison.

Last June, Gipson, 25, walked into Blalock's with an unloaded gun, ordered everyone inside to lie on the floor and began to rob it. But one of the students tripped him and others went after him, beating him with whatever was handy. He had to be taken to the hospital and had 21 cuts stitched up.

I don't know whether to consider these women very Christian in their behavior - or very stupid.

Opinions or comments anyone?

ROTFLOL!!!

Well, going easy could be up to 50 years in prison instead of 203. Or maybe after taking a look at him they decided he'd had enough. Stitches for 21 cuts? WHOA! And that doesn't count all the other injuries. You go girls. I guess I'd lean towards Christian.

They are not asking for aquittal. They are saying 5 to 10 years. Hey, there are murderers who get out in less than that. Nothing wrong with the victims of a crime having their say in punishment.

I will say it again, Women are definitely the most vicious, most vindictive, and most violent of our species. This might not be true very often, but threaten a women or her child and find out what happens. Look at the feminazis, amazons or powerful women throughout history.

203 years is a bit harsh, 200 years is just about right!

Okay, I may get flamed for this, but I think the ladies' behavior is very female. Once they'd eliminated the threat, they started empathizing and then sympathizing with the perpetrator. I'll bet they feel partly responsible for the suffering he's about experience, and believe he could be rehabilitated (even, in extreme cases, by the love of a good woman). Not all women would respond this way, of course, but I think a sizeable percentage (maybe 2/3?) would.

Men, even if they thought the sentence was excessive, would be more likely to shrug and say, "Don't do the crime..." Men are more likely to focus on the cause-and-effect of the situation, and less likely to get emotionally involved in it.

Whats happened hear is that some Pastor hasnt gotten to them. Also this was a very funny case in Shreveport that got lots of news. TO make sure no one in the the DA's office got in trouble they followed the law to the t as to the realtively new victim assistance rights legislation. Prob the DA consulted too much lol esp when they were talking about the multiple offender law,

""Five years, 10 years max," she said. "I think that would be enough time to give a young man time to think about what he did.""

--- Yeah, give the prep enough time to think about getting bullets for the gun

Curious why this "local" story all the way up river in Shreveport is in the New Orleans newpaper. Possible the perp poor displaced Noliner?
