Well, one thing you can say for Boehner...he has tenacity.

He followed McDermott like a pit bull in court until McDermott was shown to be guilty.

He may be a great choice.

"Status quo."
Of course, status quo - what else? And what did you expect - a Newt Gingrich?

IMHO, this is a good thing. Not as good as Shadegg, but Boehner is a good 2nd choice for me.

recall that Boehner is one of the guys that sued him for taping that call between him and Newt.

That's one reason why I liked Boehner, and the fact that he's not one to get stuck in a rut with the Republican establishment is another credit to the guy.

Well he's from Cincinnati, Ohio. He seems solid enough.

Shadegg would have been the best majority leader we have ever had

Is this good or bad?

This is very good. Boehner has solid conservative credentials and enough clout within the Republican Conference to effect real reforms.

Besides, he's from Ohio. :)

Since McCain backed Shadegg I suspect Boehner is actually the better Conservative choice.

Disagree. McCain is trying to warm up to conservatives. Shadegg would have been a lot better, but I really can't complain as I'm just breathing a big sigh of relief that it's not Blunt.

Per Rush, Boehner was part of the original "Contract for America." He also was involved in going after that Florida couple who taped Newt's cell phone conversation. Boehner was on the other end of the line.

Sounds like Boehner is a great choice! Almost anyone but Blount, is what I thought.

Considering McCain endorsed Shadegg yesterday, I suspect he was not nearly as good a choice as the some think he was. Looks like we dodged a McCain stealth canidate.
