Since McCain backed Shadegg I suspect Boehner is actually the better Conservative choice.

Disagree. McCain is trying to warm up to conservatives. Shadegg would have been a lot better, but I really can't complain as I'm just breathing a big sigh of relief that it's not Blunt.

McCain is not trying to warm up to Conservatives, he is trying to force Conservatives to give up what brought them into power: Not giving Democrats an inch.

Some how I find it hard to belive that having a House Majority leader who appeared to be beholden to McCain for winning the Leadership job would be in Conservatives best intrest. But, Pence did give the nod to Shadegg, and that carries a lot more weight then McCain's goofing, so maybe you are correct. Guess we are going to find out.

McCain is trying to warm up to conservatives.

I agree 100 percent; frankly, I was surprised he did this; it was a huge risk -- and now he's been smacked down.

Shadegg would have been a lot better

Now that I am seeing Boehner's qualifications all in one thread, I'm happy with this; I liked Shadegg, but I'm not sure he could "deliver," if you know what I mean.

Although, being from Ohio this makes him the most powerful Ohioian in 75 years...
I did like Shadegg's plan for opening up the competetive health care insurance market. It would lower premium prices at no tax payer costs.
