I didn't like Boehner at first, but he's a better choice then Delay lackey, Roy Blunt.

Right. Delay and Blunt. Two Republicans whose names are tied to Abramoff. That's all we need, to go from one controversial figure to another.

How do you feel about Boehner, instead of Blunt getting Majority Leader??

I'm fine with that. Blunt was carrying some baggage. I would have preferred Shadegg, but this is okay.

Best possible outcome. Shadegg was fine until McCain put the stink on him.

It's pronounced "BAY-nur", with the stress on the first syllable.

"Hrrmph! More business-as-usual on Capitol Hill :("

Actually Rep. John Boehner is not Republican Establishment guy. He has NEVER asked for an earmark. He has a long history of fighting the good Conservative fight. Since McCain backed Shadegg I suspect Boehner is actually the better Conservative choice.

Jim McDermott's nightmare - recall that Boehner is one of the guys that sued him for taping that call between him and Newt.

What do we know about Boehner?

I don't know much about him, but I know he has stood up to Jim McDermott and tried to hold him responsible for receiving and distributing the illegal "eavesdropping" tape of Gingrich, Boehner, and someone else. The Ethics Cmte., to my knowledge, has yet to issue any charges against McDermott, so Boehner has sued him. I think he lost and then appealed, and I believe he won the last time. Hopefully, McDermott will have to answer for his 'crime' soon. I'm satisfied that he won, but I wouldn't have been too upset with either of the other two.

Actually I suspect Shadegg was a stealth establishment choice. Considering McCain endorsed him, I supect it is a GOOD think McCain's pick Shadegg lost

difference here was McCain sticking his nose in where it didn't belong. Senators have no business telling the house who it's leader should be and that's how most members took it. I say this even though I'd rather have Shadegg in the top slot.
