If you want a definition I will try.IMO the current conservative movement comprises of individuals and groups to the right of President Bush and The Republican Party. We tend to focus more on the next generation rather than the next election. We tend to have a stronger belief in conservatism than does the Republican establishment.

I'm right. John Boehner is weak on immigration in one specific area. Boehner voted against the passage of legislation that would punish employers who violated the law and hired illegal aliens to work for them. If you read through this thread you'll see numerous posts that support my conclusion.

"And why am I whining? Sheeesh. ExSoldier...get a grip.... get a grip...."

Calm down. No harm done.

Our guns look like they're protected for a couple of years but our borders don't look good. So we just may need these guns a whole lot sooner than we wanted them for national security and self defense.

I am going to add my thanks and praise to Tom Delay along side of yours. I hate what is happening to him and pray for his complete vindication.

By the way, I am just glad that we have the majority and that the Majority Leader will be a Republican.

but I am not for anything McCain supports, unless it is also supported by the President. McCain is a crazy MF'er.

McCain is an ego maniac.

Outside of his pro-life credentials and opposition to gay marriage, he is pretty much just media hungry.

Unfortunatly, because of the hatred conservatives have for him, anything he proposes, gets automatic opposition, which is sad, since he is trying to tack right for his presidential run....i.e. if he proposed tax cuts, half of the freepers would call for tax hikes, just because its McCain.

He backed Shadegg because Shadegg was the real conservative and because he is from Arizona, he thought it would help him look good.

What scares me if after he loses in the primaries in 08, he might endorse a conservative allowing a RINO to win out spite.

I read that as wanting the government to do their job enforcing illegal immigration, instead of just stepping back and allowing IA's to stream across the borders, and then collecting money from businesses that hire them

To me that's tantamount to a government run scam.

If you read up on the bill you've been citing throughout this thread, you would see that it had passed.

If "payback" means members that voted against Blount will not get pork fat slathered all over their districts, then bring on the payback.

You are right. But that is why I don't consider him a conservative.HE is our ally, but not one of us.Like Pence said "he is conservative but he is not "a" conservative"

Sure. But how many of them could we really call conservatives, 10 at most.

Energy is not infinite, it's scarce, let's use ours against liberal liberals instead.

I want to know about those checks on the House floor, yes, I do.

Yep - that is very likely going to come back to haunt him. That was a real BOH-ner ;-)

Too many people forget who the really dedicated people are in congress. Who make the President's initiatives become reality.

We need every single member of our party because the alternative is terrible to contemplate.

Easy to wonder whether that's WHY Mc endorsed Shadegg.

This issue has to do with Boehner supporting no punishment for employers who violate US law by hiring illegals.

As the committee chairman of jurisdiction, John had a responsibility to speak up. John was left with no other way to make that point than to cast a risky vote that went against the grain.

John Boehner is not opposed to an employment eligibility verification system; he supports establishing such a system in a manner that works and doesn't spark a backlash the Republican majority cannot afford. Had he been given the opportunity to make his points either in committee or on the floor, John would almost certainly have voted "yes" on final passage of H.R. 4437.

I didn't know you were against one of the key elements in any good immigration reform proposal. The idea that employers who violate the law by hiring illegals, should be punished. That was in the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986. Its still the law of the land today. Now I know where you stand on this specific immigration issue. You don't stand with me, or with the 65%-70% of the American people who want to see employers punished for violating the law. Fine.

If McCain was pro life and anti gay marriage he would not be on the board of Christie Whitman's PAC.

Another board member is John Danforth who wrote an editorial in favor of gay marriage and against Evangelical Christians being involved in national politics.

McCain associates with people who want to further degrade our culture.

He is no pro lifer and no defender of marriage between a man and woman either.
