I vote for whoever McCain did not want. That's what my gut instincts have always been, and my gut always tells me to go against the guy who the media has been saying would be the one to get picked. (the media, particularly the LAT, said Blunt would likely be the nominee).

LOL....I agree. He is certainly easy on the eyes!

Boehner has always struck me as someone who doesn't care for the media limelight at all.
I think he's a behind the scenes guy...and I think he has earned a lot of trust being this way. When I first heard his name as a possibility a few weeks back, I thought he was the right man.

You're being unreasonable. McCain endorsed Bush in '04. Yeah, but McCain wasn't running then.

The LAT said this morning that Blunt would likely get the nod. LOL

Some how I find it hard to belive that having a House Majority leader who appeared to be beholden to McCain for winning the Leadership job would be in Conservatives best intrest. But, Pence did give the nod to Shadegg, and that carries a lot more weight then McCain's goofing, so maybe you are correct. Guess we are going to find out.

Not saying it would. I was fine with Shadegg, but I am not for anything McCain supports, unless it is also supported by the President. McCain is a crazy MF'er.

Pence has bigger fish to fry. While earmarks are a problem and Pence has addressed that.A bigger problem than one time spending is entitlement spending.Pence is pushing for a rollback of the horrible Medicare bill.

Tom Delay is still the man. Boehner and the others are Lilliputians. Good luck to them but they're not fit to carry Delay's jockstrap

How would electing Shadegg have been giving them an inch? Shadegg would have been fine, but Boehner was a better pick, IMO.
He was the sole member of the Republican leadership to vote against the pork-laden Highway Bill, and he has solid conservative credentials.

Not to slam DeLay, but I think this will represent a kinder face of the Republican party as well. DeLay was a good solid conservative, and I know good solid conservatives who thought he came across as very mean spirited.
