One Republican Voted Against Alito
Right March PAC ^ | 2-01-06 | William Greene

Posted on 02/01/2006 9:37:31 AM PST by no dems

There was ONE Republican that voted against Alito.

ONE Republican that caved to the Left and voted AGAINST what was RIGHT.

We've told you about him before -- and we've told you that we're going to do something about him. Well, the time is now.

If you guessed the supreme "Republican In Name Only" (RINO), Sen. Lincoln Chafee of Rhode Island... you guessed right.

SHAME ON HIM. For too long, he's voted with Democrats in the Senate, and AGAINST President Bush.

I mean that literally. He voted AGAINST President Bush in the last presidential election!

The man is a LIBERAL. His lifetime rating from the American Conservative Union is just 41. You read that right - FORTY-ONE. Democrats like Ben Nelson of Nebraska have higher ratings than Chafee does!

Well, we've finally got a chance to get Chafee OUT of the Senate. A REAL conservative Republican is running against him in the GOP primary in Rhode Island: Stephen Laffey, the mayor of Cranston, R.I.

He's anti-tax, anti-big government, pro-life -- and has pledged to vote FOR constitutionalist judges like Samuel Alito!

The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) is not only BACKING Chafee in the primary -- which they shouldn't even be sticking their noses in -- they're actively OPPOSING Laffey, having already spent a TON of money on negative ads attacking Laffey on behalf of Sen. Chafee!

To top it off, even AFTER Chafee voted AGAINST Justice Alito's confirmation, the NRSC said they were STILL supporting him against Laffey!

THIS is where our hard-earned donations go, when GOP groups like the NRSC come calling and asking for handouts?

Yeah, I got a letter with Dept. of Audit and Control from Washington, and after a small panic attack, opened to find it was a RNC money plee. That ticked me off. Only will send directly to campaign.

It is time for the Rinos to go. Let's get the majority honestly and openly with conservative candidates. If we do not win this time, we will keep trying.

I got the same flushed feeling the first few times I got those too and its a pretty low tactic to scare people into opening their letter. Cutting out the middle man is the best way to go.

Sorry to say I live in RI and Linc is a neighbor. Suffice to say I have witnessed the man trying to choose a tomato at the market. He couldn't do it - so he moved on. An agonizing 3 minutes. In any event, I know of no other Republican that will vote for him in the future.

Trying to talk logic to members of the Donner Party is futile.

Chafee has to go!

A democrat will vote the same as Chafee. Can't be worse.
Most likely, gains in red states will offset the dem if Chafee loses to a dem.

Chafee has a republican opponent in the primary.

There is no reason to believe that someone running as a real conservative could not win the general election.

There are plenty of conservatives in RI, but they usually stay home as there is seldom anyone at all to vote for.
Chafee didn't get republican votes last time. He got democrat votes.

Support Chafee's opponent, Mayor Steve Laffey of Cranston.

Because he is the only Republican that can be elected in RI to the Senate, put on the heavy duty nose plugs and vote for the Rino.

A Kennedy/Kerry/Schumer type extreme liberal is the alternative representing the possible loss of the Senate.

"Ann Coulter said it best - she said Lincoln Chafee is so dumb he doesn't realize that he's a Democrat."

Chafee has always seemed to me to be one of those snobs who thinks that being in charge is just the business his family is in.

It doesn't matter whether he's any good at it, or is even paying attention.

I can accept RINOs like Collins and Snowe, who vote as they must to please their constituents, except when the leadership tells them their votes are needed.

Chaffee doesn't give a damn if his vote is needed. He's not just a RINO, he's a traitor RINO. He really needs to go.

Rhode Island has a pro-life Republican governor, a pro-life Democratic Congressman, and of course Laffey himself managed to get elected Mayor in a town which supported Kerry 58-41. To vote for Chafee in a Primary because you're afraid a conservative MIGHT lose, when Chafee is a Democrat in every way that matters (I personally think he'd pull a Jeffords if it would make the difference) is silly and defeatist.

I really want you to be specific here. What do you think is the probablilty Chafee would win the General Election if he won the Primary, and what do you think is the probability Laffey would win the General Election if he won the Primary?

To: who knows what evil?
Go get that limp-wristed, hanky-waving SOB.

I've said it once and I'll say it again...the New England states(with the possible exception of NH) are a lost cause for *real* Republicans. The very best we can do in at least five of the states is to get a RINO who will vote for a Republican as Senate Majority Leader and as Speaker and *sometimes* to vote with other Republicans on bills, etc.

Any attempt to unseat a New England RINO through a primary challenge will either fail or result in the election of a *real* (meaning like Kennedy and Kerry) democRAT.

Unless and until substantial demographic changes occur in this region,no *real* Republican will ever be sent to DC by any of the five states!!!!!!!

In my regular perusal of the 'dummies', I see significant ranting against their own Dems who didn't support the filibuster. I guess I hope they follow through and put up primary challenges to those Senators and, thus, splinter and dilute the vote. Say, for example, that ultra-looney Cindy Sheehan takes on the "lesser looney" Diane Feinstein, could a conservative, thus, accidentally take a Senate seat. I think it's getting awful racous inside their "big tent" right about now. The hostages might start killing each other in some kind of new variant on the Stockholm Syndrome. Film at 11.
