One Republican Voted Against Alito
Right March PAC ^ | 2-01-06 | William Greene

Posted on 02/01/2006 9:37:31 AM PST by no dems

There was ONE Republican that voted against Alito.

ONE Republican that caved to the Left and voted AGAINST what was RIGHT.

We've told you about him before -- and we've told you that we're going to do something about him. Well, the time is now.

If you guessed the supreme "Republican In Name Only" (RINO), Sen. Lincoln Chafee of Rhode Island... you guessed right.

SHAME ON HIM. For too long, he's voted with Democrats in the Senate, and AGAINST President Bush.

I mean that literally. He voted AGAINST President Bush in the last presidential election!

The man is a LIBERAL. His lifetime rating from the American Conservative Union is just 41. You read that right - FORTY-ONE. Democrats like Ben Nelson of Nebraska have higher ratings than Chafee does!

Well, we've finally got a chance to get Chafee OUT of the Senate. A REAL conservative Republican is running against him in the GOP primary in Rhode Island: Stephen Laffey, the mayor of Cranston, R.I.

He's anti-tax, anti-big government, pro-life -- and has pledged to vote FOR constitutionalist judges like Samuel Alito!

The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) is not only BACKING Chafee in the primary -- which they shouldn't even be sticking their noses in -- they're actively OPPOSING Laffey, having already spent a TON of money on negative ads attacking Laffey on behalf of Sen. Chafee!

To top it off, even AFTER Chafee voted AGAINST Justice Alito's confirmation, the NRSC said they were STILL supporting him against Laffey!

THIS is where our hard-earned donations go, when GOP groups like the NRSC come calling and asking for handouts?

Chaffe did not "cave to the left." Lincoln Chaffe is the left!

Go get that limp-wristed, hanky-waving SOB.

Me neither. I donate directly to the candidate's campaign.

But would you rather have a DemocRAT senator from RI who would vote to put the DemocRATS in control of all the committees. Do you really expect a conservative from RI?

Yep. The donation letters from the RNC typically go from the mailbox to the garbage can in my house too.

Ann Coulter said it best - she said Lincoln Chafee is so dumb he doesn't realize that he's a Democrat.

I am sorry, you referred to a certain Republican but failed to name one. You keep talking about a Democrat...

You are quite right, of course. A vote is a vote, and a majority get your agenda to the floor.

Absolutely, get rid of Chafee. I don't even care if a liberal Dem replaces him. Chafee does more damage to the GOP from within the party than any Dem could do from without.

We at least of a chance of getting a true conservative in that seat. Even if Laffey loses in the general election, big deal. No big loss. Chafee was never with us to begin with, and at least he wouldn't be around anymore to hog Republican seats on various committees, giving the libs a chance at an extra vote on the committes by defecting to the Dems.

By all means, do what it takes to oust that useless Chafee.

Same here... I was a faithful contributor to the RNC and the NRSC (National Republican Senatorial Committee)... until last year...

I now set aside those funds and contribute them to individual candidates. I sent a contribution to Steve Laffey on Monday after Chaffee announced he was voting against Alito... I also forwarded the email from Laffey thanking me for the contribution to Chaffee's office, telling him the reason for me making this contribution.

I encourage everyone to do the same.

Here's a photo of the GOP traitor before he tries to stab Alito in the back.

Mort Kondracke emphasized last night what I fear, that with control of even one house of Congress the Dems will begin immediate "investigations" and impeachment of Pres. Bush. I think a RINO is preferable to a Dem only due to the "control" of that House. And in R.I. what realistic chance is there to elect a true conservative to any state-wide office? Next to none it seems from all evidence.

Chafee is from a state that re-elects Patrick "Do-You-Know-Who-I-AM" Kennedy and thinks former Providence Mayor, Present day convict Buddy Cianci is just a little rascal.

Unless we are thinking there's a real, legitimate chance of getting a pro-life conservative elected in Rhode Island, then I say we put up with Chaffee.

I'm even okay with him voting for Kerry. (Isn't RI a suburb of Boston?)

As long as he votes Frist over Reid for senate control, I can put up with him.

He's as dumb as a post. Time for him to be dispatched from the senate.

I heard something along this line a couple of days ago from Denver radio-talkshow host Mike Rosen. He pointed out that Rhode Island is a heavily liberal-Democrat state, and will never elect a conservative. Having Chaffee in there at least counts as a Republican seat when committee assignments and agendas are being worked out, which is better than any kind of Democrat.

I'd love to see Stephen Laffey elected, but it currently seems unlikely. However, I'd love to be proven wrong!
