A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Dear Dogs and Cats,
The dishes with the paw print are yours and contain your food. The other dishes are mine and contain my food. Please note, placing a paw print in the middle of my plate of food does not stake a claim for it becoming your food and dish, nor do I find that aesthetically pleasing in the slightest.
The stairway was not designed by NASCAR and is not a racetrack. Beating me to the bottom is not the object. Tripping me doesn't help because I fall faster than you can run.
The other animals in the house are ALSO family. We do not eat, torture, kill or hurt them. This also goes for little people, whom we call children
I cannot buy anything bigger than a king sized bed. I am very sorry about this. Do not think I will continue sleeping on the couch to ensure your comfort. Dogs and cats can actually curl up in a ball when they sleep. It is not necessary to sleep perpendicular to each other stretched out to the fullest extent possible. I also know that sticking tails straight out and having tongues hanging out the other end to maximize space is nothing but sarcasm.
When I sit at the computer that is NOT your clue to jump in front of the monitor, walk or sit on keyboard or decide to begin licking my face. I know I spend too much time there but give me at least the first half hour.
It is not a good idea to roll in dead anything or some other animals poopie. If & when you do, a bath will follow. NOT fun for either of us. Hope you are a fast learner on this one.
For the last time, there is not a secret exit from the bathroom. If by some miracle I beat you there and manage to get the door shut, it is not necessary to claw, whine, meow, try to turn the knob or get your paw under the edge and try to pull the door open. I must exit through the same door I entered. Also, I have been using the bathroom for years - canine or feline attendance is not mandatory.
The proper order is kiss me, then go smell the other dog or cat's butt. I cannot stress this enough!
To pacify you, my dear pets, I have posted the following message on our front door:
Rules for Non-Pet Owners Who Visit and Like to Complain About Our Pets:
1. They live here. You don't.
2. If you don't want their hair on your clothes, stay off the furniture. (That's why they call it "fur";niture.)
3. I like my pets a lot better than most people.
4. To you, it's an animal. To me, he/she is an adopted son/daughter who is short, hairy, walks on all fours and doesn't speak clearly. Dogs and cats are sometimes better than kids .they eat less, don't ask for money all the time, are easier to train, usually come when called, never drive your car, don't hang out with drug-using friends, don't smoke or drink, don't worry about having to buy the latest fashions, don't wear your clothes, and don't need a gazillion dollars for college - and if they get pregnant, you can sell the children.
With thanks from your loving owner

A 27lb Boston! He is a big boy!
Although I am partial to big dogs, I love Bostons
Very cute personalities and one of the few "Amercian made" breeds
Salty is a perfect name too!

Awwww, reminds me of my cat this morning.
I sat down to watch some news before work & he jumped up on my lap and curled up. It was enjoyable till he started cleaning himself...guess he doesn't like me working 2 jobs...

Here he is in all his glory. See what I mean about there being very little Pom visible in him? PomChi litters come out looking different from each other. Some get the wispy long fur, others, like Chachi, get the shorter thick, velvet soft fur.
To give you an idea of his size, he is a robust eight whole pounds now. :-)

Here are a couple PomChi's that I Googled.
They will never be a recognized bred until they can get them standardized, and, as you can see, they have a LONG way to go. LOL.
Babcock.....

Cheeky Pete...

Sutton...

Of course, I am prejudiced, I know, but I think my Chachi is the cutest of them all. :-)

wonderful pix of chachi.. he would be cute with a fluffy tail. Maybe for a fun pix you can add "extensions".. ha!
Is this a clever, smart breed. I have heard that some breeds are smarter than others.. but part of me thinks that like kids, a lot of training & stimulation is part of deal & the early time of learning /interacting.
Toby & Oliver were day & night for intelligence
Need to get a move on for a bit.

Chachi is extremely intelligent. Almost scary sometimes. He understands so many words already, we have to spell around him.
Chihuahuas are known for being very smart dogs, easily trainable. And we found that to be true with our little Chihuahua "Boo". I think that is surprising considering the size of their brain compared to the size of a large dog's brain. Poms are also intelligent little dogs with a good nature. Of course, a lot does have to do with how much you interact with your dog. We talk to Chachi constantly and he understands much of what we say.
My vet says that the combination of Chihuahua and Pom is a perfect blend of temperments. He was thrilled when we first brought Chachi in to see him. He knew how devastated we were when we lost Bear and told us that the best way to fill an empty place in your heart is to bring a new little puppy into your life. He was right.
